As part of the Strategic Asset Management Plan, Council is trialling ways to better understand bicycle and pedestrian movements at selected locations. This helps inform future upgrades and maintenance to support safer, more convenient walking and bike riding. The trial uses Vivacity Labs sensor technology to measure movement patterns such as volumes and peak activity times.
The trial is designed to produce anonymised movement counts and trends. Council’s intent is to avoid collecting personal information and to use the data only for planning and service improvement.

Data is stored on behalf of the organization or the data collector in an offsite data centre, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
