Contractors commenced work from 28 May 2026 with original expected completion within four weeks. Asbestos removal works and electricity disconnection are now complete following an unexpected delay.
Removal of asbestos from the buildings awning by hand will occur on 6 and 7 August 2026, with demolition work of the building and awning to commence from 13 August 2026. Once works resume, contractors will operate between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (subject to weather and site conditions), with exception of 6 and 7 August which will start at 6pm and finish by 12pm.
Construction vehicles will access the site via Waters Street under traffic control. Bloomfield Street will remain open. Access to some areas of the park may be restricted, and construction noise can be expected during approved working hours.
