Redlands Coast Community Safety Action Plan 2026-2028

Local government plays an important role in fostering community safety through place-based leadership, partnerships, and regulation. Safe communities are known to enable social connection, liveability, and wellbeing as people feel more secure to engage with others, use public spaces, and access services.

Queensland Police Service (QPS) is the lead agency for the detection, investigation and prosecution of crime. Council contributes to community safety by partnering with QPS and other Government agencies, community organisations, businesses, and residents where relevant. Together we all play a role in shaping safety risks, prevention efforts, and how safety is experienced and perceived in our community.

The Redlands Coast Community Safety Action Plan 2026-2028(PDF, 10MB) provides a strategic framework for Council’s community safety programs and initiatives on Redlands Coast. The plan outlines a shared vision, priorities and actions for strengthening safety and wellbeing. It defines Council’s role while recognising that some outcomes rely on key partners like QPS and shared commitment.

Drafting of the plan was informed by community engagement, benchmarking, and QPS crime data. Nearly 500 pieces of feedback were received from participants who generously shared their views and experiences to support the plan’s development.

As Redlands Coast changes socially, environmentally and in how we live and grow, Council’s role in supporting safe communities is increasingly important. Delivering this plan is a key initiative of the Redlands Coast Stronger Communities Strategy 2024–2027. The plan supports Council’s commitment to building strong communities, liveable neighbourhoods, and a prosperous economy through Our Future Redland City: Corporate Plan 2026-2031.
