Weinam Creek Priority Development Area Project

The Weinam Creek area was declared a Priority Development Area (PDA) by Economic Development Queensland in 2013, following advocacy from Council.

Over the past decade, a number of key components of the Weinam Creek project have already been delivered, including:

  • finalising an approved master plan for the precinct through Economic Development Queensland
  • more than 500 additional commuter car parks at Moores Road
  • a new pedestrian footbridge and pathway
  • a new recreational boat ramp
  • transition of the existing boat ramp to exclusive emergency services use
  • a new extension of Hamilton Street, Redland Bay, improving direct access to the Marina Ferry Terminal
  • an extension to the Moreton Bay Cycleway
  • two new bus stops on Meissner Street, Redland Bay
  • significant preliminary civil works to support future development, including the multi-storey car park.

 

State to deliver multi-storey car park

For many years, Council also advocated for the State Government to fund or deliver car parking infrastructure at the Weinam Creek ferry terminal, consistent with arrangements at other Translink transport hubs across Queensland.

In April 2026, the Queensland State Government commenced a compulsory land acquisition process near the Marina Redland Bay ferry terminal, within the Weinam Creek PDA precinct to support the delivery of a multi-storey car park.

As of 31 July 2026, the land resumption process has been completed. Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is currently undertaking a tender process to progress the designs for the car park and associated infrastructure to the deliver the multi-storey car park for our Southern Moreton Bay Island community.

Council is working closely with EDQ to ensure a smooth transition for all operators and stakeholders utilising the car parking area adjacent to the Marina Redland Bay ferry terminal.
