Borrowing and renewing items
As a member of Redland City Council Libraries, you have access to a wide range of resources.
Visit one of our libraries or go online to the library catalogue or download the Redland City Council Libraries app from the Play store or App store.
Borrowing
Members can borrow up to 20 physical items for four weeks. This can be any combination of format, i.e. books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines.
Members can also borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines.
No overdue fines are charged. However, if items are overdue you won't be able to borrow further items until this has been resolved.
Fast Read books
Our new Fast Read books are new releases in high demand. This exciting new collection is designed to give our customers faster access to the most popular new titles, reduce hold queues and support our popular Author talks. Fast Read books can be borrowed for seven days and can’t be renewed or placed on hold or reserved.
The Fast Read collection features the latest bestsellers in Adult Fiction, with some Adult Non-Fiction as well. Fast Reads can be found on display near the front of all our library locations, including the island libraries and the Mobile Library, making them perfect for a spontaneous pick-up. No holds – just borrow and go!
Renewing loan items
For your convenience, your loans will now automatically renew three days before their due date. The following items cannot be automatically renewed:
- items that have already been renewed twice
- interlibrary loans
- items with reservations
The library will send you an email two days before the due date letting you know which items have not been renewed and need to be returned.
You can also manually renew an item by:
- going online to the library catalogue, select 'Login' (top right of screen) and you'll find all your current loans listed in your 'My account dashboard'.
- through the library app or
- visiting or telephoning any of our libraries
Placing a reservation
You can reserve any item - either at one of our libraries, from your account on the library catalogue or via the library app. This is a free service.
When the item is available you will receive notification for collection. Your item will be on the reservation shelf at your nominated library.
You can also pick up reserved items at the 24/7 Library Lockers.
Requesting an item
If the item you are looking for is not in the library catalogue, you can request an interlibrary loan or suggest a purchase.
