The Voluntary Conservation Agreement Program (VCA) is a formal arrangement between a landholder and Council to conserve and manage bushland on private property. It is voluntary and free to join.
As a landholder, when you join the VCA program you will sign a statutory covenant on the title of the property which is legally binding. This covenant can cover part or all of your property.
Benefits to landowners
- A yearly grant for the first 10 years of the program, up to 66% of the annual general rates for the property.
- Council covers the cost of surveying and covenant lodgement fees.
- Assistance in developing a property management plan.
- A sign to display on your property.
- Flora and fauna identification.
- Advice on best practise bushland management.
- Free property management training sessions, workshops and field days.
- Opportunities to meet other like-minded landholders and share knowledge and experiences.
Qualifying for a VCA
To be eligible for a VCA you must be committed to the protection, enhancement and management of biodiversity on your property. The property itself must:
- Have good quality intact native vegetation of at least 1ha in size.
- Be located in a non-residential zone as described by the Redlands City Plan.
