Strategic land use planning projects

Strategic land use and urban planning plays an important role in research and investigations into a range of contemporary planning issues. These include future population growth, land supply, economic development, transport and connectivity, environmental matters, urban design and heritage protection.

There are a number of projects being undertaken across Redland City that relate to strategic planning. These projects are often undertaken together with key stakeholders, including the State Government.

Cleveland Point Land Purchase

Redland City Council in May 2019 acquired a strategic parcel of prime waterfront land next to Cleveland Lighthouse and Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve.

The three adjoining blocks, which cover 1859 square metres and have panoramic views across Moreton Bay, are considered of great historical and community value.

Community engagement will be undertaken to determine the best use of the land.

Redland Heritage Review

Council is in the process of undertaking a review of European heritage.

Redlands Health and Wellness Precinct

Redland City Council is working in partnership with Metro South Hospital and Health Services (MSHHS) and Mater Health Services to deliver a Health Precinct Master Plan for land on the corner of Wellington and Weippin Street. The hub will incorporate the planned expansion of the private and public hospital and identify potential industry clustering opportunities around the hospitals.
