Guided garden tours

Whether you are wildlife enthusiast, looking for a professional development experience or a group of keen walkers curious for a little adventure, a tour of IndigiScapes is a must-do! You will walk away feeling more connected to nature and each other.

A one-hour tour followed by coffee and cake at IndigiCafé is just $20 per person.

Our tours are flexible and easily tailored to your needs. You can relax as your group is personally escorted by our passionate staff, who will share their love of native flora and fauna.

Tour terms and conditions

  • Tour date and time subject to availability
  •  Cost is $20 per person, which includes the tour, coffee and cake. Please note that prices include GST.
  • Cake is any single item from our cake cabinet or a scone, jam and cream
  • Max 20 people per tour group. For larger groups, we will need to split the group in half so half have coffee and cake first while the other half have the tour and then we swap over. This is to assist the café with processing the coffee and cake orders in a timely manner.
  • Payment can be made on the day. 

Environmental Education Schools Program

At Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, we are passionate about creating environmental education programs that will immerse your students in the wonderful natural environment found right here on Redlands Coast.

We can offer education programs at the centre for all subjects and year groups that will engage your students and foster long lasting connections with the natural environment. Programs are curriculum-linked to meet the learning outcomes in the National Quality Framework, whilst inspiring the next generation to protect our unique flora and fauna.

How much does it cost?

From 1 July 2025, guided education sessions cost $9 per student.

You will be invoiced after your visit, so you only pay for those who attend on the day.

There is no charge for schools that choose to visit the centre for self guided activities only.

What activities are available?

We can create education programs for any subject area or age group. Popular programs include:

  • Tallowwood Trail guided bushwalk
  • Botanic Gardens exploration, including threatened species scavenger hunt
  • Playground
  • Wildflower Walk
  • Discovery Centre

How many students can attend a session?

With an activity rotation, we can accommodate up to 100 pax per visit. Students will typically be divided into groups of 25 or less.

Are programs suitable for students with special needs?

IndigiScapes is an ideal environment to support students with special needs. All programs can be adapted to suit the requirements of any students in your group. Please advise our Environmental Education Officer of any requirements so we can accommodate these during your visit.

Is there parking available?

Parking at IndigiScapes is free!

Bus parking bays are clearly marked within the main carpark, near the front entrance of the centre, to allow children to disembark safely.

There is additional parking nearby at IndigiScapes Community Native Nursery, just a short walk from the main centre.

Where is the best place to have lunch?

The wooden seating below the cafe is an ideal group gathering and eating area.

In the interest of the environment, we ask you and your students to bring refillable water bottles when visiting us. Water refill stations are available to refill bottles.

Please note, there are no bins in the grounds, to minimise environmental impact. Groups are encouraged to take rubbish home, or make use of the general waste and recycling bins in the centre carpark.

Where are the toilet facilities located?

Toilet facilities are located in the atrium of the centre (near the IndigCafe) and at the end of the gardens near the playground.

Where can bags be stored?

Storage facilities are available for students to stow their bags during session times.

Please do not leave any valuables in bags. Redlands IndigiScapes Centre takes no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items.

Are there wet weather options?

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre is primarily an outdoor venue with some enclosed learning spaces if needed.

If on the day of your excursion it is raining, please ensure students wear suitable clothes, shoes and raincoats.

Can I bring my students and run a self-guided visits?

Your visit can be entirely developed and facilitated by you if you prefer.

What qualifications do staff hold?

An experienced Environmental Education Officer will deliver your education programs at IndigiScapes. Education officers hold a Working with Children Blue Card and a variety of tertiary qualifications.

Who is responsible for student supervision?

It is the responsibility of the school to ensure students are supervised for the duration of their visit to Redlands IndigiScapes Centre. We encourage the excursion coordinator to develop a supervisory plan that will ensure students are accompanied throughout their visit.

Students in K- year 10 must be allocated to groups with a supervising adult for the duration of their visit to IndigiScapes. We suggest schools use the following supervisor/student ratios:

  • Special needs 1:2
  • Primary school 1:5
  • High school 1:10

Some simple reminders for your students:

  1. Please be courteous to plants, animals and people.
  2. Do not feed or interfere with the wild animals at IndigiScapes.
  3. Take rubbish and recycling with you, or use the bins provided in the carpark.

Health and safety guidelines

Many Redlands IndigiScapes Centre staff hold first aid certificates, but it is a requirement that all visiting groups have their own first aid qualified adult attend for the duration of the visit. Should assistance with first aid be required, please go directly to an IndigiScapes staff member for assistance.

We encourage all students to regularly wash their hands.

Visitors must not feed or interfere with native animals.

Our emergency response plan

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre has a documented emergency response plan in place, which includes:

  • Evacuation and exit gate procedures
  • Fire Warden protocol
  • Coded alarm system for potential life threatening situations e.g. fire, serious first aid incident, dangerous animal escape, or bomb threat

In the event of an emergency, please contact a staff member immediately.

Public liability insurance

The Redlands Coast IndigiScapes Environment Centre is covered by public liability insurance. However, schools must ensure the proposed educational activity is approved and all participants are covered by their own education facilities public liability insurance policy.
