Redland City Council and the Redlands Coast community are responsible for the management of biosecurity risks from invasive weeds, pest fish and pest animals in Redlands Coast. Impacts from invasive weeds, pest fish and pest animals can result in significant loss of biodiversity and can have considerable financial consequences for the agriculture industry.
The Redlands Coast Biosecurity Plan 2025-2030(PDF, 6MB) provides clear guidelines on how Redland City Council can meet biosecurity obligations under the Biosecurity Act 2014, inform the Redlands Coast community and manage invasive plants, pest fish and pest animals on Redlands Coast. The plan will achieve this by providing a strategic planning framework, bringing all sectors of the local community together to be informed, prioritising and committing to manage pests and ensuring resources are targeted to the highest priority management activities and are those most likely to succeed.
The Redland Biosecurity Surveillance Program 2019-2023(PDF, 900KB) is authorised for the whole of Redland City. Council will strategically identify properties that have a high risk level of biosecurity matter being present based on historical data, seasonal changes, outbreaks, reported infestations and where there is reasonable risk that biosecurity matter may exist.
The inspection program was carried out from Thursday 10 October 2019 and concluded Friday 30 June 2023.
