Redland City Mayoral Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast
The twenty-third annual Redland City Mayoral Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast has raised more than $20,000 for chaplaincy programs in local state schools providing essential funding for Redlands Coast students, families and school staff.
More than 260 people attended the 2025 event on Tuesday 26 August at the Alexandra Hills Hotel and Conference Centre, demonstrating the support in our community for programs that make a real difference to the lives of young people and the people who care for them. Attendees included school chaplains, school and church leaders, Queensland Police Service representatives, businesspeople and community members.
The breakfast included the presentation of the annual Pastor Glen Gray Award to Nina Chong, chaplain at Mount Cotton State School who has made a huge impact at her school, organising free fortnightly breakfasts, running a weekly playgroup session for pre-Prep students and their parents or carers and organising the annual Senior Box Sleepout for Year 6 students to learn about the impacts of homelessness and raise money for a local homeless charity.
During the breakfast, attendees heard from guest speaker Artie Shepherd, who is Queensland Police Chaplain for the South Brisbane District, Queensland Policy Academy and more than 10 specialist operational and tactical units, providing wellbeing support to officers and their families.
