Contractors commenced work from 28 May 2026 with expected completion within four weeks. Asbestos removal works are now complete; however, demolition of the building has been temporarily postponed while electricity disconnection is confirmed by Energex. Timing of this process is currently unknown; however, it may take up to four weeks to complete, after which demolition works can commence.
Once works resume, contractors will operate between 7:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (subject to weather and site conditions). Construction vehicles will access the site via Waters Street under traffic control. Bloomfield Street will remain open. Access to some areas of the park may be restricted, and construction noise can be expected during approved working hours.
