Water Service Outages

Check the map or list below for water and sewerage service interruptions in your area. Planned service interruptions occur when necessary maintenance work is planned in advance, whereas unplanned service interruptions are caused by random events that occur unexpectedly, like a burst water main — these are published to this webpage immediately after we become aware of an active issue.

This page is updated frequently, and expired notices are automatically removed at midnight on the day after the service interruption finished. Note that times are estimates and are subject to change.

Discoloured water

Discoloured water is usually the result of recent maintenance or mains flushing nearby, which can stir up sediment in the pipes. It looks unpleasant, but it isn't harmful.

Check the water interruptions list above to see if works are happening in your area. Schedules can change due to weather or emergency works.

Clearing the pipes at your property

  1. Run the outside tap closest to your water meter until the water runs clear.
  2. Run each tap inside, working from the front of the house to the back, until clear.
  3. Run the tap furthest from your meter last to flush the rest of your internal pipes.

Avoid using your washing machine or dishwasher until the water is clear.

Common questions

  • Who pays for the water used in flushing? Council, through its maintenance budget.
  • Is the flushed water recycled? No, for public health reasons.

If your water hasn't cleared after a few minutes, or you'd like to report a problem, call Council on 07 3829 8999.
