How to request a plumbing inspection

1. Make sure you have time to submit your inspection request
Submitting a request for a plumbing inspection typically takes about 10 minutes. You'll be able to save your request and resume later if you need more time.

2. Gather your information
You will need the following to complete and submit your request:

If you request is urgent, a request for after-hours inspection (fees apply) or to cancel/reschedule an existing inspection, please contact Council on 3829 8999.

  • The Plumbing and Drainage application (PD) number and property address (located on your plumbing compliance permit)
  • If the request is for a final inspection have you already submitted the following with Council?
    Note: If you have not submitted these documents/forms you will be able to upload them when completing the request form.
    • Domestic property:
      • Non-sewered property installing a Household Sewerage Treatment Plant (HSTP) not AES – Maintenance Agreement and Commissioning Certificate
    • Commercial sewered property:
      • If a backflow prevention device has been installed – a Form 9 has been submitted
      • An as-constructed plan
    • Commercial non-sewered property:
      • If a backflow prevention device has been installed – a Form 9 has been submitted
      • An as-constructed plan
      • If installing a Household Sewerage Treatment Plant (HSTP) – Maintenance Agreement and Commissioning Certificate

4. We'll review and process your request
How will we contact you?

  • Mainland inspections (domestic & commercial) – An SMS will be sent to site contact mobile number the afternoon before inspection day with inspection time and council inspector’s name.
  • Karragarra Island, Lamb Island, Macleay Island, Russell Island – An SMS will be sent to the site contact mobile number to confirm the next business day (NBD) inspection, including the inspector’s name and contact number. We generally visit Macleay from 9am, Russell Island from 11am and then Lamb/Karragarra Island when required.

    No inspection times are allocated to the Karragarra Island, Lamb Island, Macleay Island, Russell Island inspections.

  • North Stradbroke Island – Amity, Dunwich, Point LookoutAn SMS will be sent to the site contact mobile number to confirm the next business day (NBD) inspection, including the inspector’s name and contact number.

    No inspection times are allocated to the North Stradbroke Island, Amity, Dunwich, Point Lookout inspections.

  • Coochiemudlo – An SMS will be sent to the site contact mobile number to confirm the next business day (NBD) inspection, including the inspector’s name and contact number.

    No inspection times are allocated to the Coochiemudlo Island inspections.
