Redlands Coast Age-friendly Action Plan

Redland City Council is committed to supporting our residents to age well. The Redlands Coast Age-friendly Action Plan 2021-2026 is a five-year action plan based on the World Health Organisation's Age-friendly cities model. This plan provides a way forward for Council, the community and the Government to work together to ensure that ageing on Redlands Coast is a positive experience, and people of all ages are valued and can live active fulfilling lives. 

Seniors Month 2024 – Love Getting Older in Queensland

Redlands Coast Seniors Month Funding Program 2024 

Seniors Month is an annual October celebration in Queensland that promotes social connections and positive ageing. The Redlands Coast Seniors Month Funding Program provides opportunities for older residents to connect with each other through community-based events and activities that are culturally inclusive, intergenerational or lifestyle focused.

In 2024, Council proudly supported seven not-for-profit community organisations through the Seniors Month funding program:

• Seniors Expo – Coochiemudlo Men's Shed 
• Celebrating Active and Healthy Seniors – Belgravia Foundation 
• Donald Simpson Centre Arts and Crafts Show 2024 – Donald Simpson Community Centre 
• Seniors Month Fun Day – STAR Community Centre 
• Gold Gatherings: Wellness and Friendship Day – Redland Community Centre
• CraftVenture – Redland Coast Art Society
• Step into Pickleball: Seniors Introductory Sessions – Redlands Pickleball Club

Each week there are many activities available for older adults on Redlands Coast:

The following organisations specifically offer activities and educational opportunities for older people:

• Donald Simpson Community Centre
• University of the Third Age, Redlands Inc, (U3A)

Assistance services

Older adults may be eligible to access the following services:

• Home maintenance and modifications
• Rates concessions
• Pensioners concessions for rates
• Water services concessions

Volunteering opportunities
