Events and what's on

Council is working with local event organisers, community groups and tourism operators to assist them following the Australian Government’s direction of further widespread restrictions to social gatherings and events.

The Australian Government has moved to more widespread restrictions on public gatherings as announced by the Prime Minister on Sunday 29 March.

Stay at home unless you are:

  • going to work or education (if you are unable to do so at home)
  • shopping for essential supplies such as groceries, return home without delay
  • going out for personal exercise in the neighbourhood, on your own or with one other
  • attending medical appointments or compassionate visits.
  • Social distancing rules of keeping 1.5m away from each other and no more than two people out (unless from the same household).

All non-essential services closed include:

  • Pubs, registered and licences clubs (excluding bottle shops attached to these venues), hotels (excluding accommodation)
  • Gyms and indoor sporting venues
  • Cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos and night clubs
  • Restaurants and cafes are restricted to takeaway and/or home delivery only
  • Religious gatherings, places of worship or funerals (in enclosed spaces and other than very small groups of where the 1 person per 4 square metre rule applies).

Redland City Council temporary closures - as at Monday 30 March - include:

  • Parks, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, BBQs, skate parks
  • Fenced and gated dog off-leash areas (DOLAs)
  • Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC)
  • Council Customer Service Centres at Victoria Point and Capalaba.
    Council Customer Contact Centre remains open for all phone enquiries on 3829 8999. Opening hours for telephone enquiries are Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm - excluding public holidays.
