We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

Mount Cotton - Shoulder & Drainage Maintenance - West Mount Cotton Road
Roads, Drainage & Marine Unit and Parks and Conservation will be undertaking Road and shoulder maintenance works associated to the Trailhead facility upgrade. Maintenance works to include Roadside tree maintenance, trail entrances, shoulder and verge main - Partial Road Closure Minor delays expected with lane closures as required. Traffic Control will be onsite and Karreman Quarries have been notified. This work is planned to commence Monday 19 April 2021 and to be completed by Friday 11 June 2021 between the hours of 6.30am and 4.00pm (weather permitting).
North Stradbroke - Fire Mitigation Works - NSI - East Coast Road, Tramican Street & George Nothling Drive - Conservation Area
Fire Mitigation activities through vegetation reduction/removal on Council Tenured Land. Strengthening existing Asset Protection Zones (APZ) and Fire Access Trails (FAT) through vegetation removal (Weed Control & Maintenance) to reduce ladder fuels and un - No Road Closure. This work is planned to commence Monday 12 April 2021 and to be completed by Wednesday 30 June 2021 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00pm (weather permitting).
Redland Bay - Carpark Maintenance - Weinam Creek
Repairing potholes in unsealed 7 day carpark - Partial Road Closure Carpark to remain open with minor traffic delays/disruptions. Traffic control will be on-site to assist with carpark access. This work is planned to commence Tuesday 11 May 2021 and to be completed by Friday 14 May 2021 between the hours of 6.30am and 4.00pm (weather permitting).

Alexandra Hills - PDG-30270-2 - Street Lighting – St Anthony Drive, Alexandra Hills
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing street lighting and undertaking associated works from the footpath frontage of 1 St Anthony Drive (Lot 34 on Plan SP242931) to 31 St Anthony Drive, Alexandra Hills (Lot 0 on Plan SP250371). Alexandra Hills - PDG-43648-1 - Park Upgrade & Renewal Hanover Drive Park
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works to upgrade the existing park. Works will include the removal of existing kerb and channel, vegetation, taps, shade structure, play equipment, BBQ, bins, fence, pathway, park furniture and garden edging. New works will include the Installation of new indented off-road car parking, including pavement, kerb ramps, kerb and channel, concrete wheel stops, bollards, line marking and signage, installation of a solar powered public amenities facility, supply and installation of sports equipment and playground equipment including combination goal, parkour equipment, primary play unit, spinner, seesaw, swings, steppers, rubber domes, dino dig, sandstone tunnel, sand play unit, ‘Pillar of Hercules,’ including synthetic turf and rubber softfall and associated certifications, approvals and management plans. Birkdale - PDG-20727-1 - Park Infrastructure Projects - William Eickenloff Park, Birkdale
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a timber totem pole; timber steppers; elevated timber balance beam; disc golf target & tee sign; turf to disturbed areas; and associated works. Expected Start Date - 17/05/2021 Expcted Finish Date - 24/05/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Birkdale - PDG-60004 - Birkdale Ladfill - Pond 6 Bio Basin Construction
Benefits: The benefits of this project will minimise contaminants being released into the creek adjacent to Pond 6 and should improve the environmental aspects of the area. This is essential as the discharged water flows into a RAMSAR wetland area. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be constructing a bio retention basin at Birkdale Landfill Station’s Pond 6 area. The construction method of the bio retention basin will consist of the following: • Fill the section of pond 6 where the concrete drain enters the pond to enable an access track for the construction works to commence; • The installation of a stormwater pipe line from the concrete drain to divert water through pond 6; • The installation of geofabric and placement of rock at the entry to the newly installed pipeline; • Construct a culvert structure over the concrete drainage to allow cartage to fill the pond; • De-silting of the exiting pond 6. • As part of this project we will be required to plant plants in the newly constructed bio retention basin at pond 6.
Cleveland - PDG-42403-1 - H310063 Bus Shelter Renewal – 256-257 Cleveland Rail Bus Station, Cleveland CBD
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including the removal of existing bus stop infrastructure and installation of new bus shelters, platform, concrete pavement and associated works. Estimated start date (weather permitting): 17 March 2021 Estimated end date (weather permitting): 4 June 2021
Cleveland - PDG-43260-1 - Raby Bay Groynes 1, 2, 3, 6 & 7
Following damage caused by Ex-TC Oswald in 2013, these works will reinstate the 5 Groynes to their ‘As Constructed’ condition. Following reinstatement, these Groynes will continue to protect and maintain the foreshore and the sandy beaches located between them. Redland City Council contractors will reconstruct Groynes 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 damaged by strong wave action from previous weather events. Access to these Groynes will generally be by vessel only. Cleveland - PDG-43644-3 - Cemetery Upgrade
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including: The reconstruction of the Lychgate structure with two new granite columbarium walls, Randall Walls in granite, Installation of pathway links, new shelter, kerb improvements, planting of a tree avenue and associated works. Cleveland - PDG-43801-1 - Footpath Princess Street – from Passage Street to Riordan Street, Cleveland
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing footpath; kerb ramps; and conducting associated works from the corner of 103 Princess Street to 112 Passage Street, Cleveland. Expected Start Date - 23/04/2021 Expcted Finish Date - 21/05/2021 (weather permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-43850-1 & 20722 - Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including removal of existing site boundary bollards, BBQ, spinner, shelter and signs; construction of new coloured concrete, paving, landscaping, supply and install plastic site boundary bollards, bin enclosure, new BBQ, spinner, feature lighting to trees and associated certifications, approvals and management plans. Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be upgrading various streets on Macleay Island. These works will involve the installation of gravel pavement and two coat bitumen seal. The following streets are to be sealed: 42472 – Tukkeri Street between Kate Street and Koonwarra Parade. 80436 – Panaroo Street between Attunga Street and Koonwarra Parade. 43473 – Golden Sands Boulevard between Jane Street and Kooberry Street. 43479 – Leanne Street between Kate Street and 32 Leanne Street. 43480 – Cathy Street between Kate Street and Golden Sands Boulevard. 80350 – Golden Sands Boulevard between Oomool Street and 17 Golden Sands Boulevard. 43474 – Warama Street between Kate Street and Koonwarra Parade. 43481 – Morwong Street between Kate Street and Koonwarra Parade. 43482 – Akama Street between Morwong Street and Barramundi Street. 43496 – Marine Street between High Central Road and the End. 43470 – Orion Street between High Central Road and 39 Orion Street. 43471 – Sentosa Terrace between High Central Road and Udara Drive. Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be undertaking the construction of a bitumen sealed carpark with approx. 23 car park spaces. To improve safety the site will have separate entry and exit points off West Mt Cotton Rd. Works will also include some minor tree removal, new fencing, improved drainage and associated works. Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including upgrade of roadworks including pavement, kerb and channel, stormwater pits, headwalls, bollards, line marking and signage. Newly installed structures including timber boardwalk and viewing decks/lookouts; park furniture including fencing, seat, tap and drinking fountain, waste bin enclosure, bike rack, fencing and bollards; hard surfacing including decorative concrete and coloured bitumen; landscape features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, matting, turf and assorted planting. Point Lookout - PDG-43654-1 - Park Upgrade Headland Park

Redland Bay - PDG-41583-4 - Charlie Buckler Sportsfield Car Park Renewal & Expansion - Pedestrian Refuge (Stage 4)
Benifits of the project: The benifits of this project include the following: 1: Improve accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists; 2: Provide phyiscal protection from vehicles; 3: Users cross one direction of traffic at a time making gap selection easier; 4: Speed reduction of vehicles. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews with the assistance of Contractors will be upgrading the pedestrian refuge and bus stop in front of Charlie Bukler Sportsfield at Boundary Street, Redland Bay. Works will involve the installation of kerb and channel, stormwater drainage, and the removal and relocation of the existing bus shelter. During construction the exisitng bus stop will be relocated approximately 100m to the west of its current location.

Thornlands - PDG-20729-1 - Park Infrastructure Projects - Div 3 CIP DOLA – Manning Esplanade Foreshore, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a Dog Off Leash Area fence and gate; concrete path; water bubbler; relocating existing waste bin; planting of trees; and associated works. PLEASE NOTE: The Dog Off Leash Area will be closed to the public between the hours of 7am-4pm on 11 May 2021, to allow for essential works. Additionally, works were delayed due to wet weather, and are now expected to finish on 14/05/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)

Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including installing a shaded outdoor fitness area, bike rack installations, agricultural themed play space celebrating the area’s heritage and picnic facilities including a single barbecue, drinking fountain and seating. Wellington Point - PDG-43358 - Footpath & Retaining Wall - Main Road, Wellington Point
Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be replacing the existing retaining wall and pathway that leads down the hill to the Wellington Point Reserve. Works will also include the relocation of the existing water main. During this time many public safety strategies will be in place, these consist of, but not limited to: • One lane will be closed during the day and controlled using Traffic Controllers • Pedestrian movements through the worksite will be controlled using Traffic Controllers • The pedestrian crossing at the base of the hill will not be operational while construction works are underway.
