We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

Macleay Island - Macleay Island Ferry Carpark Maintenance - Macleay Island
Weed management and removal of dead and unsuitable vegetation. Re-planting and Mulching - No Road Closure Some car parking bays will be cordoned off for access and traffic control signage in place. This work is planned to commence Tuesday 1 June 2021 and to be completed by Saturday 31 July 2021 between the hours of 6.00am and 4:30 PM (weather permitting).
Redland Bay - Planned Burn – Bayview Conservation Area - 273-305 Days Road
Redland City Council’s Parks & Conservation Crews are intending to undertake a planned burn in a section of bushland. - No Road Closure. This work is planned to commence Tuesday 15 June 2021 and to be completed by Friday 30 July 2021 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM (weather permitting).

Projects

Alexandra Hills - PDG-43648-1 - Park Upgrade & Renewal Hanover Drive Park
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works to upgrade the existing park. Works will include the removal of existing kerb and channel, vegetation, taps, shade structure, play equipment, BBQ, bins, fence, pathway, park furniture and garden edging. New works will include the Installation of new indented off-road car parking, including pavement, kerb ramps, kerb and channel, concrete wheel stops, bollards, line marking and signage, installation of a solar powered public amenities facility, supply and installation of sports equipment and playground equipment including combination goal, parkour equipment, primary play unit, spinner, seesaw, swings, steppers, rubber domes, dino dig, sandstone tunnel, sand play unit, ‘Pillar of Hercules,’ including synthetic turf and rubber softfall and associated certifications, approvals and management plans. Expected Start Date: 19/04/2021 Exepected Finish Date: 06/08/2021 (Weather and site Permitting)
Amity Point - PDG-44734 - Amity Point Campground Basin - Emergency Works
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Protect the foreshore to prevent future erosion. • Repair the damage to the existing bitumen road caused by erosion. Description of Works: Redland City Council construction crews will be undertaking Emergency Works at the Amity Point Campground foreshore. These works will involve the construction of a geotextile sand bag seawall to protect the road within the Amity Point Campground, reinstatement of the damaged road and installation of wooden bollards and signage.
Birkdale - PDG-43547 - Scour Protection Works - Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • To protect life and does not cause nuisance or inundation of habitable rooms; • To provide an appropriate level of flood immunity in accordance with applicable standards; • To protect other infrastructures such as footpath, culvert from scour in this location. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s internal construction crews and contractors will be undertaking culvert protection works at two location within 539-553 Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale. Site 1 - located on Old Cleveland Road East: The works for site 1 consist of removal and trimming of a limited amount of trees, removal of existing pathway to allow stabilization of area, installation of geotextile materials, placement of blue metal rock and grout. Site 2 – located on Judy Holt Sportsfield Access Road. The works for site 2 consist of removal of the fallen trees, stabilization of area, installation of geotextile materials and placement of rock and grout.
Birkdale - PDG-60004 - Birkdale Ladfill - Pond 6 Bio Basin Construction
Benefits: The benefits of this project will minimise contaminants being released into the creek adjacent to Pond 6 and should improve the environmental aspects of the area. This is essential as the discharged water flows into a RAMSAR wetland area. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be constructing a bio retention basin at Birkdale Landfill Station’s Pond 6 area. The construction method of the bio retention basin will consist of the following: • Fill the section of pond 6 where the concrete drain enters the pond to enable an access track for the construction works to commence; • The installation of a stormwater pipe line from the concrete drain to divert water through pond 6; • The installation of geofabric and placement of rock at the entry to the newly installed pipeline; • Construct a culvert structure over the concrete drainage to allow cartage to fill the pond; • De-silting of the exiting pond 6. • As part of this project we will be required to plant plants in the newly constructed bio retention basin at pond 6.
Cleveland - PDG-43011 - Road Widening - Bay Street, Cleveland
Benefits: The benefits of this project include: • Improved transport and network efficiency. • The number of accidents may be reduced due to the widening of the road. • May reduce travel time. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews with the assistance from Contractors will be completing road widening works along a small section of Bay Street, Cleveland between Olympus Drive and Smith Street. These works will involve the construction of B1 kerb, placement of asphalt, construction of a 2 meter wide concrete footpath and reinstatement of affected driveways.
Cleveland - PDG-43644-3 - Cemetery Upgrade
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including: The reconstruction of the Lychgate structure with two new granite columbarium walls, Randall Walls in granite, Installation of pathway links, new shelter, kerb improvements, planting of a tree avenue and associated works. Expected Start Date: 08/03/2021 Expected Finish Date: 18/08/2021 (Weather and Site Permitting)
Macleay Island - PDG-43759 - Footpath Works - Russell Terrace, Macleay Island
Redland City Council Contractors will be constructing a new concrete footpath & driveway, rock pitching to existing drainage, Weldmesh fencing and associated works. Expected Start Date: 01 June 2021 Expected Finsih Date: 28 July 2021 (weather & site conditions permitting
Macleay Island - PDG-80920. - SMBI Road Upgrades - Macleay Island
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Supports commercial and economic activities in this location; • To comply with Council’s adopted standards identified in Planning Scheme Policy 2 – Infrastructure works; • To provide an appropriate level of flood immunity in accordance with Council’s adopted standards identified in Planning Scheme Policy 2 – Infrastructure Works; • To ensure the operation of roads no worse than level of service. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking road upgrades on various streets at Macleay Island. These works will involve the placement and compactions of a gravel pavement, two coat bitumen seal and associated drainage works. The roads to be sealed include: • 80531 – Cross Street from #50 Coondooroopa Drive to 4-6 Cross Street. • 80528 – Rhodes Street from Scotts Road to 10 Rhodes Street. • 80259 – Devaney Street from Scotts Road to 18 Scotts Street. • 80532 – Glen Street from Michael Street to Ashton Street. • 80534 – Alistair Court from Michael Street to the End. • 80535 – Duncan Street from Michael Street to Ashton Street. • 80536 – Ashton Street from Hastings Terrace to the End. • 80537 – Cluan Street from Emita Street to 7-9 Cluan Street. • 80503 – Ray Street from Kate Street to Beelong Street. • 80504 – Ilya Street from 9 Ilya Street to 28 Ilya Street. • 80507 – Rio Street from Coondooroopa Drive to Kate Street. Please be aware the abovementioned streets DO NOT indicate the order in which the streets will be sealed.
Mount Cotton - PDG-43700-1 - Trailhead Facility - Redlands Coast Eastern Hinterland Experience
Construction of Trailhead facility and associated works at Lot 900 (SP223466) 770 West Mount Cotton Road, Mount Cotton. Construction of viewing deck and associated works at Top of Billiau Road Lookout, Mount Cotton. Expected start date (weather permitting): 18 January 2021 Expected finish date (weather permitting): 9 July 2021
Point Lookout - PDG-43577-5 - Snapper Street Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk, Point Lookout Connection Point Lookout (Stage 1)
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including upgrade of roadworks including pavement, kerb and channel, stormwater pits, headwalls, bollards, line marking and signage. Newly installed structures including timber boardwalk and viewing decks/lookouts; park furniture including fencing, seat, tap and drinking fountain, waste bin enclosure, bike rack, fencing and bollards; hard surfacing including decorative concrete and coloured bitumen; landscape features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, matting, turf and assorted planting. Expected Start Date: 27/01/2021 Expected Finish Date: 27/08/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Redland Bay - PDG-44246 - Carpark Expansion - Fielding Road, Redland Bau
Benefits: The formalisation and improvement to the carpark including footpath connection and access road to Fielding Road Park. These works allows both local residents and members of the community garden a safe place to park and walk when accessing the park. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be completing carpark expansion work at Fielding Road, Redland Bay. These works will involve the construction of a concrete carpark, driveway access for the Community Gardens and 1.5 meter wide footpath. We anticipate traffic management signage to be installed on Tuesday 25th May 2021 with initial drainage preparations to commence Thursday 27th May, Friday 28th May 2021 and Monday 30th May 2021. During the initial pre-construction drainage preparations access to the Community Gardens will be permitted. Following the initial preparation works the carpark improvement works will commence the week beginning Monday 7th June 2021 with anticipated completion end July 2021 (weather and site conditions permitting). While the construction works for the carpark are underway, access to the community will not be permitted until the concrete carpark and driveway is fully constructed and the area can be safely accessed.
Russell Island - PDG-20716 - Div 5 CIP - Footpath - Robert St to Sports Field Russell Is
Redland City Council Contractors will be constructing a new 1.5m wide footpath and associated works at Robert Street, Russell Island. Expected Start Date: 10 June 2021 Expected Finsih Date: 22 June 2021 TURF WILL BE COMPLETED IN LATE JULY 2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Russell Island - PDG-43350 - Footpath Canaipa Point Drive Russell Island (Oasis Drive to Keats Street)
Redland City Council Contractors will be constructing a 1.5m wide footpath associated work at Canaipa Point Drive, Russell Island. Expected Start Date: 14 May 2021 Expected Finsih Date: 28 July 2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Russell Island - PDG-43549 - Footpath Glendale Road Russell Island (Centre Road to Crescent Drive)
Redland City Council Contractors will be constructing a new 2.0m wide footpath and associated works at Glendale Rd, Russell Island. Expected Start Date - 11 June 2012 Expected Finish Date - 28 July 2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Russell Island - PDG-43638-2 - Park Renewal - Jackson Oval, Russell Island
Redland City Council Contractors will be renewing the park at Jackson Oval, Russell Island. Works will include demolition and removal of existing playground equipment, tree trimming and stump removal, earthworks, pathway construction, landscaping and supply and installation of new playground equipment. Estimated start date (weather permitting): 01 July 2021 Estimated end date (weather permitting): 30 July 2021
Russell Island - PDG-80920 - 21/22 - SMBI Road Upgrades – Russell Island
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Improve the road infrastructure network. • Reduce dust. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking road upgrades on various streets at Macleay Island. These works will involve the placement and compactions of a gravel pavement, two coat bitumen seal and associated drainage works. The roads to be sealed are: • 80344 – Banksia Street between High Street and house 13 Banksia Street. • 80345 – Cassia Street between Banksia Street and Callistemon Street. • 80346 – Callistemon Street between Cassia Street and Dryandra Street. • 80352 – Mark Road. • 80553 – Heeterra Street.
Victoria Point - PDG-43657-1 & 43901 - Park Upgrade(Stage 1) & Carpark (Stage 2) - Les Moore Park
Redland City Council contractors will be upgrading the existing playground equipment including removal of the old playground equipment and replacement with the following: Park Upgrade (Stage 1) • Removal of existing play equipment, bins, taps, BBQ, shelters, table setting, concrete slab, electrical lighting, landscaping and associated assets; Supply and installation: • Concrete footpaths, including precast headwalls and shelter, drinking fountain and bin enclosure slabs; • Landscape features including sandstone boulders, sandstone block seating walls, planting of trees, turf and synthetic turf; • Park furniture including platform seats, taps, drinking fountain with dog bowl, bins, BBQ and table settings; • Supply and installation of Dog off leash area fencing; • Play equipment including rubber steppers, rubber domes and timber steppers; • Fitness equipment, playground surfaces including rubber, mulch and sand softfall, structures including shelters, solar lighting, electrical and water services connections. Carpark (Stage 2) • Removal of existing stormwater pipes, catchpits, signage, guideposts, bollards and park gate; Supply and installation: • Concrete footpaths; new stormwater infrastructure including pipework, catchpits, headwall and swale; • New park swing gate, park sign, guideposts and bollards; road pavement parallel parking bays, including kerb and channel, line marking, signage and traffic island. Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade and community consultation is currently underway. Wellington Point - PDG-43650-2 - EGW Woods BMX Track
Redland City Council contractors will be upgrading the existing BMX track and associated park infrastructure, with supply and installation of the following: • Concrete footpaths and asphalt bike paths; • Landscape features including sandstone block seating wall, planting of trees and plants, turf and synthetic turf; • Park furniture including parkway seat, picnic table setting and drinking fountain with dog bowl; • Structures including shelters; • Cricket nets to existing cricket pitch; • BMX track signage; • Water services connections; and • Drainage infrastructure Expected Start Date: 05/07/2021 Expected Finish Date: 10/09/2021 (weather and site conditions permitting)
Wellington Point - PDG-43858-1 - Park Renewal Stage 2A - Apex Park, Wellington Point
Decommissioning and removal of existing amenities to the northern end of the park. New amenities will be constructed to the north of the park and will be fully accessible, more visible and connect to existing active park areas and pathways.
