Works update

We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

Alexandra Hills - Vienna Road, Alexandra Hills Centre Medium Upgrade - Vienna Road, Alexandra Hills
Centre medium upgrade - Partial Road Closure lane redirection required. This work is planned to commence Thursday 23 September 2021 and to be completed by Wednesday 29 September 2021 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM (weather permitting).

Projects

Amity Point - PDG-44158 - Beehive Road, Amity Point - Drainage Renewal
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Improve the drainage along a small section of Beehive Road, Amity Point. • Reduce scouring within the immediate vicinity of the replaced stormwater line. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking drainage upgrades along Beehive Road Amity Point, approximately 570 meters from the intersection of East Coast Road. These works will consist of replacing approximately 16 meters of cross road stormwater pipes, installation of a 375mm headwall and construction of a new field inlet with a 900x900mm dome grate.
Birkdale - PDG-43576, 43834, 43835, 43836 - Judy Holt Sportsfield – Carpark and Lighting Upgrade
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Upgrades to the lighting within the car park to meet Rate 3 lighting standards. • Increase the safety for the public and sporting clubs at night. • Expansion and formalisation of the carparks to the west and south of the cricket fields allows additional parking for the community. • New asphalt surfacing will extend the life of the existing internal roads and carparks. • Formalised pedestrian crossing point will provide safe pedestrian connectivity between the fields and carparks. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s internal construction crews and contractors will be upgrading the existing carpark and lighting at Judy Holt Multi Sportsfield facility. These works will involve the construction of new carparking areas, the installation of pedestrian lighting throughout all new and existing carparking areas and the application new asphalt surfacing and line marking.
Capalaba - PDG-55119 - Duncan Road, Capalaba - Western Batter Repairs
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Alleviate Public Safety concerns relating to the exposure to leachate. • Provide a safe area for community and club members when using Wester Batter. • Mitigate uncontrolled amounts of leachate being released • Improve the water quality of the creek adjacent to the Western batter. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking repairs to a small section of the Western Batter at Duncan Road Baseball Fields. These works will involve the removal of the contaminated soil, clay capping and the installation of a leachate collection system to redirect the leachate seep back into the existing leachate collection trench.
Cleveland - PDG-43644-3 - Cemetery Upgrade
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including: The reconstruction of the Lychgate structure with two new granite columbarium walls, Randall Walls in granite, Installation of pathway links, new shelter, kerb improvements, planting of a tree avenue and associated works. Expected Start Date: 08/03/2021 Expected Finish Date: 10/09/2021 (Weather and Site Permitting)
5 Wet Well Renewal-Cleveland
Benefits: The current infrastructure within a sewage pump station at Cleveland Sewage Pump Station SPS005 has been identified to require improvements. The structure was originally constructed in 1978 and condition assessments have been completed and indicate the need for the renewal of this pump station. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be renewing the Cleveland Sewage Pump Station #5 which includes: Replacement of some internal handrails, ladders and floor grating, new kick rails around floor penetrations, replacement of some structural members, and repairs to an internal reinforced concrete wall. Upon completion of concrete repairs, all internal wet well concrete surfaces are to be coated in Ultra High Build Epoxy and the dry well internal concrete surfaces are to be coated in an acrylic latex system. During the remedial work sewage flow will continue and will be managed by the contractor for duration of any tasks requiring partial or full shutdown of SPS005. Diesel powered pumps will be utilised to discharge into the existing rising main. Timeline: Tuesday, 10 August 2021 through to Thursday, 14 October 2021, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Should the date move further than 2 weeks from the above proposal an updated Notification will be issued.
Macleay Island - PDG-80920. - SMBI Road Upgrades - Macleay Island
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Supports commercial and economic activities in this location; • To comply with Council’s adopted standards identified in Planning Scheme Policy 2 – Infrastructure works; • To provide an appropriate level of flood immunity in accordance with Council’s adopted standards identified in Planning Scheme Policy 2 – Infrastructure Works; • To ensure the operation of roads no worse than level of service. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking road upgrades on various streets at Macleay Island. These works will involve the placement and compactions of a gravel pavement, two coat bitumen seal and associated drainage works. The roads to be sealed include: • 80531 – Cross Street from #50 Coondooroopa Drive to 4-6 Cross Street. • 80528 – Rhodes Street from Scotts Road to 10 Rhodes Street. • 80259 – Devaney Street from Scotts Road to 18 Scotts Street. • 80532 – Glen Street from Michael Street to Ashton Street. • 80534 – Alistair Court from Michael Street to the End. • 80535 – Duncan Street from Michael Street to Ashton Street. • 80536 – Ashton Street from Hastings Terrace to the End. • 80503 – Ray Street from Kate Street to Beelong Street. • 80507 – Rio Street from Coondooroopa Drive to Kate Street. Please be aware the abovementioned streets DO NOT indicate the order in which the streets will be sealed.
Point Lookout - PDG-43577-5 - Snapper Street Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk, Point Lookout Connection Point Lookout (Stage 1)
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including upgrade of roadworks including pavement, kerb and channel, stormwater pits, headwalls, bollards, line marking and signage. Newly installed structures including timber boardwalk and viewing decks/lookouts; park furniture including fencing, seat, tap and drinking fountain, waste bin enclosure, bike rack, fencing and bollards; hard surfacing including decorative concrete and coloured bitumen; landscape features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, matting, turf and assorted planting. Including additional barrier along a part of Snapper Street walkway, providing extra safety measures for users. Expected Start Date: 27/01/2021 Expected Finish Date: 30/09/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Russell Island - PDG-20746-2 & 20752-2 - Russell Island Park Improvements
20746-2 Bay Islands Memorial Gardens Benefits: Bay Island Memorial Park on Russell Island was identified for seating and pathway to enable an improved visitor experience to the area. The drinking water fountain will provide a water source for the adjacent footpath and visitors. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be constructing concrete slabs, installation of seats, tap and dog bowl and associated works within Bay Islands Memorial Gardens. Timeline: Monday, 20 September 2021 through to Friday, 15 October 2021, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Should the date move further than 1 week from the above proposal an updated Notification will be issued. 20752-2 Russell Island Sport and Recreation Park Benefits: Russell Island Sport and Recreation was identified for seating to be included at an existing shelter at this location to allow for additional seating for visiting spectators to this area. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be installing seats under the existing shelter within Russell Island Sport and Recreation Park Timeline: Tuesday, 5 October 2021 through to Friday, 15 October 2021, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Should the date move further than 1 week from the above proposal an updated Notification will be issued.
Russell Island - PDG-80920 - 21/22 - SMBI Road Upgrades – Russell Island
Benefits: The benefits for this project include: • Improve the road infrastructure network. • Reduce dust. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking road upgrades on various streets at Macleay Island. These works will involve the placement and compactions of a gravel pavement, two coat bitumen seal and associated drainage works. The roads to be sealed are: • 80344 – Banksia Street between High Street and house 13 Banksia Street. • 80345 – Cassia Street between Banksia Street and Callistemon Street. • 80346 – Callistemon Street between Cassia Street and Dryandra Street. • 80352 – Mark Road. • 80553 – Heeterra Street.
Thornlands - PDG-20743-1 - William Stewart Skate Park
Redland City Council Contractors will be Constructing new shade sails, including renewal of an existing rubbish bin, turf and associated works. Expected Start Date: 04/10/2021 Expected Finish Date: 12/11/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Victoria Point - PDG-43657-1 & 43901 - Park Upgrade(Stage 1) & Carpark (Stage 2) - Les Moore Park
Redland City Council contractors will be upgrading the existing playground equipment including removal of the old playground equipment and replacement with the following: Park Upgrade (Stage 1) • Removal of existing play equipment, bins, taps, BBQ, shelters, table setting, concrete slab, electrical lighting, landscaping and associated assets; Supply and installation: • Concrete footpaths, including precast headwalls and shelter, drinking fountain and bin enclosure slabs; • Landscape features including sandstone boulders, sandstone block seating walls, planting of trees, turf and synthetic turf; • Park furniture including platform seats, taps, drinking fountain with dog bowl, bins, BBQ and table settings; • Supply and installation of Dog off leash area fencing; • Play equipment including rubber steppers, rubber domes and timber steppers; • Fitness equipment, playground surfaces including rubber, mulch and sand softfall, structures including shelters, solar lighting, electrical and water services connections. Carpark (Stage 2) • Removal of existing stormwater pipes, catchpits, signage, guideposts, bollards and park gate; Supply and installation: • Concrete footpaths; new stormwater infrastructure including pipework, catchpits, headwall and swale; • New park swing gate, park sign, guideposts and bollards; road pavement parallel parking bays, including kerb and channel, line marking, signage and traffic island. Expected Start Date - 07/07/2021 Expected Finish Date - 26/11/2021 (weather and site permitting) Please note: Temporary road closure/ traffic delays A section of Wilson Esplanade fronting Les Moore Park will be closed from the 13-22 September 2021, so stormwater and drainage works can be completed as part of the parks $2 million upgrade. Detour signage will be in place to help drivers bypass the closed road. Work will not be undertaken on weekends. When workers are not on-site, one lane will be open with electronic traffic lights in place.
Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade and community consultation is currently underway.
