We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

Redland Bay - Environmental Offset Planting Works, Redland Bay Cemetery - 29-31 Gordon Road, Redland Bay
Contractors have been arranged to plant 40 environmental offset trees in an unusable section of land associated with Redland Bay Cemetery. Workers and vehicles will be present at the site on a few occasions to conduct relevant activities such as poisoning - No Road Closure. This work is planned to commence Tuesday 5 April 2022 and to be completed by Sunday 5 June 2022 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM (weather permitting).

Alexandra Hills - PDG-20796-1 - Wehr Urban Habitat
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the construction of a new meeting area for the Wehr Urban Bushcare Group. Description of Works: Supply and installation of sandstone blocks laid in a circular pattern with blocks in the centre. Timeline: Expected Start Date: 16/05/2022 Expected finish Date: 17/06/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Alexandra Hills / Capalaba - PDG-44834-1 - City Fibre Stage 2A
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking installation of a fibre optic cable haul from Alexandra Hills to Capalaba, commencing at the intersection of Redland Bay and Vienna Roads continuing to the Capalaba Library Building. Timeline: 17 January through to 27 of May 2022, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Alexandra Hills/ Cleveland/ Thorneside/ Thornlands/ Ormiston/ Redland Bay/ Victoria Point - PDG-64171-1 - Sewer Gravity Main Condition Assessment
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking sewer main cleaning, inspection and maintenance within the following suburbs: Alexandra Hills, Cleveland, Thorneside, Thornlands, Ormiston, Redland Bay and Victoria Point. Sewer mains will be cleaned with high pressure water to remove fat and grit and other potential causes for blockages before being inspected by CCTV camera to detect pipe cracks, breaks and other defects in the sewer network. This work is being completed to reduce risk of sewers overflowing and causing unexpected service interruptions. While all efforts are made to reduce impacts to residents, short term impacts that may be experienced include odour from the sewer due to the need to access through pits, noise from plant and equipment, and if you have a sewer maintenance hole in your property we may need to enter your property to access this. RCC’s contractor will notify residents nearby to sewer works by letter. If entry to your property is required the letter will advise. If you have a locked gate or a dog, please contact the number on the letter to arrange a suitable time for the work to be carried out. RCC’s contractors are authorised persons under section 36 of the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008 allowing access to private property to perform works on our assets. Works will generally be completed between 7.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, however nightworks (8.00pm to 5.00am) are necessary in some areas due to avoid peak period of high sewage flow. Timeline: 20 May through to 30 of June 2022. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Amity Point - PDG-44221 - Clayton's Road, Amity Point - Culvert Renewal
Benefits: The benefits of this project include: • Removal of condemned culverts and replacement will allow for increased lifespan of the asset. • Improves the safety of Clayton’s Road as it allows additional road width. • Increases the safety of users by installing fencing either side of headwall. Description of Works: Redland City Council Construction Crews will be commencing culvert renewal works along Clayton’s Road, Amity Point near Wallum Creek Drive. These works will involve the following: • Removal of a small number of trees. • Removal of the existing under road box culverts and aprons. • Installation of new box culverts, aprons and headwalls. • Decommission and removal of 150mm asbestos cement water main. • Installation of a new DICAL 150mm water main. • Placement of turf to disturbed areas. While these works are being completed, the road will be reduced to one lane 24 hours a day under traffic light operations and with speed restrictions in place. We anticipate that the one lane operations will be from early February 2022 until Easter 2022. During the Easter period the road will be returned to two lanes.
Amity, Nsi - PDG-44097-1 - Amity Point Receation Reserve NSI - Footpath Expansion
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a concrete pathway and associated works. Timeline: 19 April 2022 through to 27 May 2022, 7:00am to 6:00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Birkdale - PDG-41634-2 Precinct 102 - 2021/22 Asphalt & Associated Works-Redland City (Precinct 102)
Benefits: Improved road safety for all road users, extending the life of the pavement asset and delivering a smoother and quieter surface. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking road resurfacing and associated works within the following streets:- Collingwood Road (Spoonbill Street to Pitt Road), Birkdale; and Collingwood Road (Northview Street to Birkdale Road), Birkdale Timeline: These works are being undertaken as NIGHT WORKS commencing Sunday 22nd May 2022 to 1st July 2022, 7.00pm to 5.00am. It is anticipated that the bulk of the works will be undertaken during three (3) shifts each, with the remainder associated minor works and linemarking being completed over the rest of the time. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions, lack of Traffic Controllers of Covid related crew absences. Should the date move further than one (1) week from the above proposal an updated Notification will be issued.
Capalaba - PDG-41634-2 Precinct 103 - 2021/22 Asphalt & Associated Works-Redland City (Precinct 103)

Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking road resurfacing and associated works within the following streets:- Macquarie Street (Ney Road to Wentworth Drive), Capalaba; and Smith Street (Redland Bay Road to Steel Street), Capalaba Timeline: (Macquarie Street) These works are being undertaken as NIGHT WORKS commencing 19th May 2022 to Friday 10th June 2022, 7.00pm to 5.00am. It is anticipated that the bulk of the works will be undertaken during one (1) shift, with the remainder associated minor works and linemarking being completed over the rest of the time. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions, lack of Traffic Controllers of Covid related crew absences. Cleveland - PDG-43891-2 - Revetment Wall Renewal - Masthead Drive Cleveland
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will reconstruct a section of revetment wall by way of wall rebuild including bearing piles and batter remediation. Timeline: 7 February through to 17 June 2022, 7:00am to 6:00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Cleveland - PDG-46971 - Wayfinding Signage - Cleveland CBD
Benefits: Signage will align with Redland City Council’s new Signage Manual - Natural Areas & Village Signage Strategy and will increase the lifespan of the assets. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction crews will be removing existing signage and replacing with Way Finding & Informative signage. Timeline: 13/01/2022 through to 31/03/2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions
Lamb Island - PDG-43904 - Drainage Renewal - Tennis Courts, Lamb Island
Benefits: To improve drainage issues and extending the life of the asset Description of Works: Redland City Council internal construction crews will be installing kerb and channel along one side of the fence of the tennis court to assist with drainage issues as per the aerial photo below. A connecting pathway from the kerb and channel to the tennis court gate will also be installed. Timeline: 9th May 2022 to approximately 27th May (weather depending), 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change due to wet weather.
Lamb Island - PDG-55083 - Hardstand Repairs - Lamb Island Waste Transfer Station
Benefits: The benefits of this project include: • To provide a safe environment to all users (public, RCC Staff and Contractors) of Lamb Island Waste Transfer Station. • Improvements to onsite stormwater drainage through the creations of bund walls and drainage outlets. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking hardstand repairs to the Lamb Island Waste Transfer Station. These repair works will involve but are not limited to the following: • Boxing out of existing area, place and compact profile material to repair the hardstand area. • Create a bund wall with drainage outlets. • Graffiti removal from concrete, bollard installation and repairs to exposed steel reinforcing at waste bin area. Lamb Island Waste Transfer Station will remain operational while these works are being completed. Users of the site will be directed to relevant stockpiles sites by Construction Projects Unit staff.
Macleay Island - PDG-42632 - Kate Street, Macleay Island - Drainage Improvements
The benefits of this project include: • Alleviate stormwater drainage issues in Kate and Papaya Streets. Description of Works: Redland City Council Construction Crews will be undertaking drainage upgrade works in Kate Street, from house 206 and into Papaya Street to the intersection of Beelong Street, Macleay Island. These works involve the following: • Installation of new stormwater pipes, pits and manholes. • Reinstatement of disturbed road, footpaths and kerb and channel. • Reconstruct affected driveways crossovers like for like.
Mount Cotton - PDG-44157 - Footbridge Renewal – Mount Cotton Community Park, Mount Cotton
Benefits: The replacement of the timber decking with concrete will eliminate the need of any timber decking repairs/maintenance issues in the future. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be removing the existing supporting joists of the timber decking and replacing with a concrete slab and replacement of the timber handrails on a footbridge in Mt Cotton Community Park. Timeline: Tuesday 26th April 2022 through to Friday 6th May 2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Ormiston - PDG-41634-2 Precinct 106 - 2021/22 Ashphalt & Associated Works-Redland City (Precinct 106)

It is anticipated that the bulk of the works will be undertaken during three (3) shifts, with the remainder associated minor works and linemarking being completed over the rest of the time. Point Lookout - PDG-43654-3 - Park Upgrade - Headland Park, Point Lookout
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading the existing park at Headland Park. The existing playground equipment was removed prior to Christmas and the new playground equipment will be located adjacent to the existing car park. The project will include installation of the following: - playground equipment including whale play structure, basket swing, dolphin spring toy, cone shell cubby, turtle play structure, mud crab, sand ball, sea-urchin, pipi shell, hand grips and rubber domes; - playground surfaces including synthetic turf and rubber softfall, concrete slabs, landscaping, metal bollards and park furniture; - new drinking fountain and water tap; - new BBQ; - shade sail structure; - shelter; - relocate and reinstall waste and recycling bin enclosures; - swinging park gate and safety barrier fencing; and - extension of the existing carpark, including concrete pavement, concrete wheel stops, removable bollard, line marking and signage. Expected Start Date: 24/01/2022 Expected Finish Date: 24/05/2022 (weather and site conditions permitting)
Point Lookout - PDG-44043 - Snapper Street, Point Lookout - Road Upgrade
Benefits: The benefits of this project include: • To improve stormwater drainage by alleviating runoff and the potential of scouring and undermining the future construction of the boardwalk. • Upgrades to the bus stop to ensure compliance with Translink Standards. • Construction of new pathway area to increase pedestrian safety. • To make Point Lookout Streetscape area aesthetically pleasing to tourists, holiday-makers and residents. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking road upgrade works along Mooloomba Road between Mintee Street and Midjimberry Road, Point Lookout. These works will involve the following: • Installation of underground drainage pipes and associated pits along Mooloomba Road between Mintee Street to Minjimberry Road. • Installation of concrete kerbing. • Formalising of 21 asphalt car parking spaces. • Upgrades to the existing bus stop outside 26 Mooloomba Road. • Line marking and placement of turf to disturbed areas. While construction works are being undertaken, the road will be reduced to one way operations during the day, with a detour in place. At the end of each day, the road will be reopened with two lanes operational but with a reduced speed limit in place. As part of the road upgrade works, the bus shelter located outside 26 Mooloomba Road will need to be temporarily removed but will be reinstated once the works have been completed. While this bus shelter is out of service those wishing to catch a the bus will be asked to use the Point Lookout Bus Interchange located at Mooloomba Road near Kennedy Drive, Point Lookout. We have been looking for alternative areas to create a temporary bus shelter closer to the one which will be temporarily removed, however we are unable to find a suitable and safe location for buses to stop. It is important to note, these road upgrade works form part of the larger Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk project. Timeline: At this stage it is anticipated for these works to commence 31st January 2022 with completion by Easter 2022 (weather and site conditions permitting). However if this project is not completed by Easter 2022, Council will halt works and make the area safe during the Easter Period and will re-commence works once the school holidays are over.
Raby Bay Canal Estate, Cleveland - PDG-70084-2 - Raby Bay Rock Armour Replacement 21/22
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be placing armour rock on the revetment wall batter in identified areas. Access to these sites and works performed will be by vessel. Timeline: 19 April through to 20 May 2022, 7:00am to 6:00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-20519 - New Community Group Facility – Weinam Creek Development
Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be undertaking the construction of the new Redlands Sea Dragons facility located at 23-29 Moores Road, Redland Bay. These works will include the construction of entrance and exit roads, concrete slabs, new shed and under roof storage area, fencing and associated landscaping. Timeline: Mid December 2021 through to June 2022, (weather permitting). Working hours Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm. The completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather or supply chain delays.
Russell Island - PDG-43910 - Fern Terrace, Russell Island - Drainage Upgrade
Benefits: The benefits of this project include:  To alleviate drainage issues in Fern Terrace.  Make pedestrian movements safer. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews will be upgrading the drainage in Fern Terrace between Harrison and Jiwali Streets, Russell Island. These works will involve the extension of the existing underground drainage pipes, installation of two manholes, one catchpit and one headwall which will remove the discharge of stormwater into private property. The existing deep table drain will be filled making the area safer for both pedestrians and motorists. It is anticipated small sections of the existing pathway will be replaced as part of these drainage works.
Thorneside - PDG-43957-1 - Park Renewal - Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading the existing Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside with the installation of; • Pirate themed play unit with crows nest, climbing and sliding elements, cannon, ship anchor with treasure chest • Pedal coaster, double swing, carousel, trampoline • Pillar of Hercules, walk the plank • Water play activities with pumps, sluice gate and creek bed with bridge crossing • Tunnel slide, binoculars, softfall, pathways and discovery trails • Seating, table settings, drinking fountain, shelter • Landscaping including turf and mulching Including all associated approvals, certifications and management plans. And the removal of; • Very poor conditioned play equipment Expected Start Date: 19/04/2022 Expected Finish Date: 30/11/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-43856-1 - Park Upgrade - Robert Mackie Park, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading portions of this park, including dog off leash entry upgrade, tap, signage, concrete pathway, turf, landscaping and associated works. Start Date - 05/05/2022 Finish Date - 01/06/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-43971-8 - Wellington Street Upgrade (Stage 1) – Removal of Trees and Stumps
Benefits: The purpose of the vegetation management is to prepare the site for the re-alignment of Energex poles, overhead electricity and provision of service corridor for the underground public utility providers prior to the commencement of the duplication of Wellington St/Panorama Dr Stage 1 works Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the removal of trees and stumps in front of lot 140 on SP318885, 145-167 Panorama Drive, Thornlands. Vegetation management • The area undertaking vegetation management is an 8m wide strip the length of the property. (refer highlighted strip in image below) • A cultural heritage risk assessment has been completed and spotters will be required. • No evidence of Indigenous cultural heritage was discovered as part of this assessment. • Fauna Monitoring Pre-clearance report has been undertaken. Fauna monitoring will be undertaken 2 weeks prior to disturbance. Fauna Spotter/Catcher (FMC) will be on site during disturbance. All disturbance will be supervised by the FMC. • An Ecological report has been prepared and the vegetation management plan has not triggered any local, State or Federal legislation • No permits are required to undertake the works Expected Start Date: 09/05/2022 Expected Finished Date: 18/05/2022 (Weather & Site Conditions Permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-44247-1 - Design & Construct Modular Change Rooms-Pinklands Sporting Complext
Benefits: This project is a result of the expansion of woman’s sport participation throughout the Redlands. As all female sporting participation is to be celebrated and encouraged, these facilities are essential to support that growth. To accommodate the additional patronage at this facility, the proposal is to construct the relocatable female change room facility, with additional toilet facilities for use by participants and spectators alike. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be constructing a modular unisex change rooms including fitout within Pinklands Sporting Complex Timeline: 14 March 2022 through to 3 June 2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Various Suburbs - PDG-41634 - 2021/2022 Road Resurfacing Program (Road Gully Unit Renewals)
Benefits: Upgrading of stormwater infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews & External Contractors will be undertaking catchpit renewals at various locations within Redland City. These works involve the removal of existing catchpits and replacing with 2.4 meter new catchpits or new grates to comply with legislation. Works are being done in conjunction with IPU and are to be completed before the commencement of the Road Resurfacing Program. Timeline: 24th February 2022 to 29th April2022 (weather & site conditions permitting), please note works on Shore Street West, Enterprise St & Smith St will be undertaken at night.
Victoria Point - PDG-43715-2 - Moreton Bay Cycleway Additional Works
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking construction works involving the replacement of some of the Modwood Decking around the bends with Mini Micromesh and installation of line-marking, reflective tape and replacement of some bollards. Expected Start Date: 7 March 2022 Expected Finish Date: 24 May 2022 (Weather & Site conditions permitting)
Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade. Benefits: The benefits of this project include: • Increase public safety for users of EGW Wood Sportsfield by mitigating trip hazards. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews will be completing public safety improvements at EGW Wood Sportsfield. These works involve the removal of the existing timber sleeper retaining wall and re-shaping the slope at the back of the club house, adjacent to the existing footpath.
