We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

Dunwich - Yabby St Commuter Terminal and adjacent viewing platform - Yabby St
Condition assessment of structures - Partial Road Closure Some parking will be restricted in the adjoining car park.. This work is planned to commence Tuesday 9 February 2021 and to be completed by Friday 12 March 2021 between the hours of 6.00am and 4:30 PM (weather permitting).

Alexandra Hills - PDG-43943-1 - Community Infrastructure Projects - Chipping Drive Park, Alexandra Hills
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a park seat, bubbler, fitness node, bike challenge, mulching around existing tree; and removal of some very poor conditioned play equipment and associated works. Expected Start Date - 01/03/2021 Expected Finish Date - 19/03/2021
Alexandra Hills - PDG-43981-1 - Resurfacing - Vienna Road Alexandra Hills
Redland City Council contractors will be undertaking road surfacing and associated works at the below location: Vienna Road, Alexandra Hills (Canterbury Street to Winbourne Road) (NIGHT WORKS) Expected start date (weather permitting): 1 February 2021 Expected end date (weather permitting): 12 March 2021
Birkdale - PDG-20726-1 - Community Infrastructure Project – Div 10 CIP – Temporary Commercial Access – Aquatic Paradise Park East, Birkdale
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a concrete slab for temporary commercial use; a seahorse hopscotch & alphabet fish stencilling; as well as turf to disturbed are; and associated works. Expected Start Date - 10/03/2021 Expected Finish Date - 17/03/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Birkdale - PDG-60004 - Birkdale Ladfill - Pond 6 Bio Basin Construction
Benefits: The benefits of this project will minimise contaminants being released into the creek adjacent to Pond 6 and should improve the environmental aspects of the area. This is essential as the discharged water flows into a RAMSAR wetland area. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be constructing a bio retention basin at Birkdale Landfill Station’s Pond 6 area. The construction method of the bio retention basin will consist of the following: • Fill the section of pond 6 where the concrete drain enters the pond to enable an access track for the construction works to commence; • The installation of a stormwater pipe line from the concrete drain to divert water through pond 6; • The installation of geofabric and placement of rock at the entry to the newly installed pipeline; • Construct a culvert structure over the concrete drainage to allow cartage to fill the pond; • De-silting of the exiting pond 6. • As part of this project we will be required to plant plants in the newly constructed bio retention basin at pond 6.
Capalaba - PDG-43889 - Resurfacing Ney Road Capalaba
Redland City Council contractors will be undertaking road resurfacing and associated works at the following location: • Ney Road, Capalaba (Redland Bay Road to Wildflower Road) NIGHT WORKS – 7pm – 6am Monday to Friday Expected start date (weather permitting): 18 January 2021 Expected finish date (weather permitting): 12 March 2021
Cleveland - PDG-41634-1 - 2020/21 Asphalt & Associated Works – Stage 1 - Stabilisation and Asphalt Overlay
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including the stabilisation of approximately 300mm of the existing pavement and a 35mm asphalt overlay. Estimated start date (weather permitting): 22 February 2021 Estimated end date (weather permitting): 14 March 2021
Cleveland - PDG-42403-1 - H310063 Bus Shelter Renewal – 256-257 Cleveland Rail Bus Station, Cleveland CBD
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including the removal of existing bus stop infrastructure and installation of new bus shelters, platform, concrete pavement and associated works. Estimated start date (weather permitting): 17 March 2021 Estimated end date (weather permitting): 4 June 2021
Cleveland - PDG-43260-1 - Raby Bay Groynes 1, 2, 3, 6 & 7
Redland City Council contractors will reconstruct Groynes 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 damaged by strong wave action from previous weather events. Access to these Groynes will generally be by vessel only. Expected start date (weather permitting): 1 February 2021 Expected finish date (weather permitting): 1 April 2021
Cleveland - PDG-43644-3 - Cemetery Upgrade
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including: The reconstruction of the Lychgate structure with two new granite columbarium walls, Randall Walls in granite, Installation of pathway links, new shelter, kerb improvements, planting of a tree avenue and associated works. Expected Start Date: 08/03/2021 Expected Finish Date: 29/06/2021 (Weather and Site Permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-43850-1 & 20722 - Cleveland Point Recreation Reserve
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including removal of existing site boundary bollards, BBQ, spinner, shelter and signs; construction of new coloured concrete, paving, landscaping, supply and install plastic site boundary bollards, bin enclosure, new BBQ, spinner, feature lighting to trees and associated certifications, approvals and management plans. The Cleveland Lighthouse will also undergo a lighting upgrade. Expected State Date: 22/03/2021 Expected Finish Date: 06/05/2021 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-44001-1 & 44008-1 - Resurfacing - Bollard Crt, Bowspirit Pde, Sternlight Crt & Island St, Cleveland

Macleay Island - PDG-80339 - Tingara Street, Macleay Island
Redland City Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be upgrading Tingara Street Macleay Island between Kate Street and Attunga Street. These works will involve upgrades to the drainage by installing 375mm stormwater pipes, box culverts, kerb and channeling as well as bitumen sealing.
Macleay Island - PDG-80920-1 - SMBI Green Seal Program – Macleay Island
Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be upgrading various streets on Macleay Island. These works will involve the installation of gravel pavement and two coat bitumen seal. The following streets are to be sealed: 42472 – Tukkeri Street between Kate Street and Koonwarra Parade. 80436 – Panaroo Street between Attunga Street and Koonwarra Parade. 43473 – Golden Sands Boulevard between Jane Street and Kooberry Street. 43479 – Leanne Street between Kate Street and 32 Leanne Street. 43480 – Cathy Street between Kate Street and Golden Sands Boulevard. 80350 – Golden Sands Boulevard between Oomool Street and 17 Golden Sands Boulevard. 43474 – Warama Street between Kate Street and Koonwarra Parade. 43481 – Morwong Street between Kate Street and Koonwarra Parade. 43482 – Akama Street between Morwong Street and Barramundi Street. 43496 – Marine Street between High Central Road and the End. 43470 – Orion Street between High Central Road and 39 Orion Street. 43471 – Sentosa Terrace between High Central Road and Udara Drive. Mount Cotton - PDG-20736-1 - Community Infrastructure Projects - Autumnwood Avenue Park, Mount Cotton
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a basket swing; sandstone block; timber totem pole; log and steppers; stencilling of snail maze and caterpillar hopscotch; water bubbler and landscaping; including the planting of a tree and installation of turf. Mount Cotton - PDG-43700-1 - Trailhead Facility - Redlands Coast Eastern Hinterland Experience
Construction of Trailhead facility and associated works at Lot 900 (SP223466) 770 West Mount Cotton Road, Mount Cotton. Construction of viewing deck and associated works at Top of Billiau Road Lookout, Mount Cotton. Mount Cotton - PDG-44019-1 - Resurfacing - Valley Way Mount Cotton. Roundabout at Heinemann Road
Redland City Council contractors will be undertaking road surfacing and associated works at the below location: Valley Way Roundabout, Mount Cotton (German Church Road/Heinemann Road/Valley Way) (NIGHT WORKS) Expected start date (Weather permitting): 15 February 2021 Expected end date (weather permitting): 12 March 2021
Mount Cotton - PDG-44044-1 - Tracks and Trails - Eastern Escarpment
Construction of approximately 24kms of single and multi-use trails and associated trail infrastructure at the Eastern Escarpment, Mount Cotton Expected Start Date: 4 January 2021 (weather permitting) Expected Finsih Date: 2 April 2021 (weather permitting)
Ormiston - PDG-43795-1 - Footpath & Kerb Ramp Installation - Cayman Crescent (1 Nautilus Drive ending adjacent to 30 Nautilus Drive), Ormiston
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing new footpaths and kerb ramps from the; footpath frontage of 1 Nautilus Drive; around to corner kerb frontage of 1 Sirocco Court, Ormiston; and from the corner kerb frontage of 11 Sirocco Court; around to the corner kerb frontages of 1 Aegean Court; and from the corner kerb frontage of 6 Aegean Court, Ormiston; along footpath frontage of 3 Nelson Street, Ormiston (ending at the corner, across from 30 Nautilus Drive). Expected Start Date - 03/03/2021 Expected Finish Date - 09/03/2021 (weather conditions permitting)
Ormiston - PDG-43821-1 - Raby Esplanade Park, Stage 2
The exciting new play and visitor spaces created over the last few years at Raby Esplanade Park will be finalised with remaining works expected to be completed early-mid March 2021, weather and site conditions permitting. Council will rectify some drainage issues in the water play area of Stage 1 of Raby Esplanade Park. This rectification work includes the addition of a small timber bridge and softfall. Thank you for your patience during construction. Our delivery team will continue to work to minimise disruption to the public where possible. Ormiston - PDG-43821-2-2 - Raby Esplanade Park, Stage 2 Bike Play Works
The exciting new play and visitor spaces created over the last few years at Raby Esplanade Park will be finalised with remaining works expected to be completed early-mid March 2021, weather and site conditions permitting. These final works included the installation of a wheeled learn to ride path with educational play styled road safety rules, traffic signals, roundabout, speed humps and a pedestrian crossing incorporated. A new bike and scooter rack, water bubbler and seating wall will also be installed. Turf and tree planting will complement the area adding valuable shade in the future within this area. Point Lookout - PDG-43577-5 - Snapper Street Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk, Point Lookout Connection Point Lookout (Stage 1)
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including upgrade of roadworks including pavement, kerb and channel, stormwater pits, headwalls, bollards, line marking and signage. Newly installed structures including timber boardwalk and viewing decks/lookouts; park furniture including fencing, seat, tap and drinking fountain, waste bin enclosure, bike rack, fencing and bollards; hard surfacing including decorative concrete and coloured bitumen; landscape features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, matting, turf and assorted planting. Redland City Contractors will be conducting works including upgrading Tennis Courts with renewal of sports surfacing, lighting, nets, fencing, gates and shelter refurbishments and relocation of public cricket nets with new sports surfacing and fencing. Thornlands - PDG-43012 - Ziegenfusz Road, Thornlands - Road Widening
Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews and Contractors will be undertaking road widening works in Ziegenfusz Road, Thornlands from the residences of 62-66 Ziegenfusz Road to the corner 2-14 Trundle Road. Works will involve the installation of Ø375mm stormwater line, M1 kerb & channel and all relevant drainage works, reinstatement of affected driveways and all associated works to complete this project.
Thornlands - PDG-43595 - Thornlands Community Park, including CIP Anvil
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including installing a shaded outdoor fitness area, bike rack installations, agricultural themed play space celebrating the area’s heritage and picnic facilities including a single barbecue, drinking fountain and seating. Victoria Point - PDG-43807-1 - Footpath & Kerb Ramp Installation - between Pelican Street & Carter Street, Victoria Point

Victoria Point - PDG-43809-1 - Footpath & Kerb Ramp Installation - between Thomspon & Boat Streets, Victoria Point
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a concrete footpath connecting Thompson Street and Boat Street; and undertaking associated works. Expected Start Date - 08/03/2021 Expected Finish Date - 15/03/2021 (weather permitting)
Wellington Point - PDG-20733-1 - Community Infrastructure Projects - Streetscape Works - Main Road, Wellington Point
Redland City Council Contractors will be carrying out streetscape works including the installation of a timber marine post; carved pelican; notice board; recycled plastic insect garden boat and planting; deck over planter box; and associated works. Expected Start Date - 23/02/2021 Expected Completion Date - 16/04/2021 (weather & siting conditions permitting)
Wellington Point - PDG-43358 - Footpath & Retaining Wall - Main Road, Wellington Point
Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be replacing the existing retaining wall and pathway that leads down the hill to the Wellington Point Reserve. Works will also include the relocation of the existing water main. During this time many public safety strategies will be in place, these consist of, but not limited to: • One lane will be closed during the day and controlled using Traffic Controllers • Pedestrian movements through the worksite will be controlled using Traffic Controllers • The pedestrian crossing at the base of the hill will not be operational while construction works are underway. Pedestrians will be directed to use alternative crossings. • Both lanes will be open to traffic at night
Wellington Point - PDG-43653-1 - Plantation Place Park
Redland City Contractors will be conducting works, including replacing the play unit with rope nets, slide, double swing and interactive play panels, upgrading of bike road safety elements for learner riders and installation of new park seating. Expected Start Date 03/11/2020 Expected Finish Date 12/03/2021 (weather permitting)
Wellington Point - PDG-43858-1 - Park Renewal Stage 2A - Apex Park, Wellington Point
Decommissioning and removal of existing amenities to the northern end of the park. New amenities will be constructed to the north of the park and will be fully accessible, more visible and connect to existing active park areas and pathways. Renewal of multi half court with soccer goal, basketball and netball hoop. Installation of additional picnic facilities. Construction of pathway connection. Reforming of existing BMX track into an Asphalt Pump track to suit beginners, intermediate and advanced users. Expected Start Date: 11/02/2021 Expected Finish Date: 28/05/2021
