Infringements

If you have been issued a penalty infringement notice, you must take one of the below options within 28 days.

What is a penalty infringement notice?

Penalty infringement notices are fines issued to anyone breaking laws or regulations. These cover many areas of community life such as animal ownership, parking, littering, public health and safety, pool fences, noise and pollution.

Legislation is in place to ensure the proper and fair use of facilities, and protect our lifestyle, environment and safety.

In accordance with Section 22 of the SPER Act and initial infringement notices, a registered owner has 28 days from the initial notice date to:

  1. pay the fine in full
  2. make an appeal for internal review
  3. make an election to have the matter of the offence decided in a Magistrates Court
  4. give an illegal user declaration, a known or unknown user declaration or a sold vehicle declaration for the vehicle for the offence
