Community support

⚠️ Red Cross and the Queensland Government have some key resources that may be beneficial at this time.

Helping children and young people cope with crisis | Information for parents and caregivers – A booklet for parents and caregivers to help understand stress, trauma, the reactions of children and young people (aged 0-25), how to respond to their needs, sleep, the media, looking after yourself and suggested activities.

Parenting coping with crisis – This booklet provides reflections on and suggestions for parenting during or after a crisis. It includes tips on coping with crisis while parenting, finding your new normal and helpful resources.

Resources for parents and caregivers – A variety of material from Red Cross and partner agencies offering a diversity of delivery methods including stories boards, videos and printable material.

If you are experiencing emotional stress contact your local emergency relief provider or counselling service or call the 24/7 Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349 for help.

Council provides a range of initiatives to support people in our community. See the links below about the types of initiatives and assistance that you may be eligible for.
