We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

- Paperbark Removal and Replacement program - Various locations
Removal and stump grind of 31 Maleluca trees causing structural damage. These trees are being removed as part of the Maleluca program , letterbox drop will be completed prior to removal. - No Road Closure. This work is planned to commence Monday 11 March 2024 and to be completed by Tuesday 30 April 2024 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM (weather permitting).

Redland Bay - Bayview Conservation Area Single Bike Trail Project - Bayview Conservation Area , Redland Bay
Rectification and maintenance works to be completed to various tracks.Works will include excavation works to rectify erosion and water mitigation issues to the tracks totalling 11.3kms - No Road Closure. This work is planned to commence Wednesday 3 January 2024 and to be completed by Thursday 16 May 2024 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM (weather permitting).

Projects

Birkdale - PDG-20293-1 - Willard's Farm Restoration, Birkdale
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be completing the following works: Partial demolition, restoration of building elements and construction of building elements, and installation of stormwater, electrical and hydraulic services and associated works. It is anticipated that restoration works will be comprised of various components including building restoration, site preparations and service utility upgrades. This includes: • Restoration works for the existing House (including service utility connections); • Restoration works for the existing Milking Shed; • Restoration works for the existing Cream Shed (Creamery); • Access Platform construction for the existing Cream Shed (Creamery); • Restoration works for the existing Garage; • Restoration works for the existing Cistern; • Viewing platform construction for the existing Cistern; • Restoration works for the existing Elevated Tank; • Install security lighting; and • Install CCTV security system; Timeline: 28 AUGUST 2023 through to 28 JUNE 2024, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Birkdale - PDG-44055-1 - Park Reimage - Fuschia, Carinyan, Lobelia Parks
Redland City Council Contractors will be engaged to • Demolition and removal of assets identified in RCC For Construction drawings including but not limited to chicanes, signage, taps, water meter, barriers around stormwater structures, bollards, playground assets, pool fencing, gate slide rails, trees, gate bollards, seats and log bollards; • Construction of earthworks, bollards, concrete slabs, stormwater drainage infrastructure, sandstone blocks and boulders, landscaping, furniture/hard elements, safety fencing, weldmesh fencing, tap, signage, play equipment, swinging park gate and water services; • Supply and installation of play equipment including flower rocker, double swing, fairytale teepee, gum blossom stool/steppers and soccer goal; • Supply and installation of concrete slabs and concrete edging; • Supply and installation of landscape features including sandstone block seating walls, sandstone block retaining wall, forest mulch, topsoiling and turf; • Supply and installation of playground surfaces including rubber, takura engineered softfall, and sand softfall; • Supply and installation of new park signs, tap with dog bowl and maintenance tap, seat, swinging park gate, playground safety fencing, weld mesh fencing, recycled plastic bollards and folding bollards; • Supply and installation of drainage infrastructure; • Supply and installation of water service connections; Expected Start Date : 29/01/2024 Expected Finish Date : 06/05/2024 (Weather & Site conditions permitting)
Capalaba - PDG-44169-1 - Crotona Road West Park
Redland City Council Contractors will be engaged to deliver the following: • Construction of earthworks, concrete connections to pathways, landscaping, furniture/hard elements, play equipment, shade structure • Supply and installation of play equipment including toddler Rocker unit, toddler climbing unit, play panel (type 1 and 2), spring toy, toddler independent flipper, rubber domes and double swing; • Supply and installation of shade sails structures; • Supply and installation of landscape features including sandstone block seating walls, sandstone boulder edge, sandstone block retaining wall, topsoiling and turf; • Supply and installation of playground surfaces including rubber, mulch and sand softfall; • Supply and installation of new park signs, • Supply and installation of Sub soil drainage infrastructure; Expected Start Date 04/03/2024 Expected Finish Date 03/05/2024 (Weather and sote Conditions permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-20798-1 - RPAC Redevelopement - Stage 1
Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Constructions Crews will be reconfiguring the cul de sac area at the end of Middle Street, Cleveland to provide a safe set down area for the patrons of the Redlands Performing Arts Centre (RPAC). These works will involve, but not limited to: • Provide a safe pedestrian crossing point between RPAC and the courthouse through the construction of kerb ramps with tactile paving and designated pedestrian crossing. • Footpath upgrade in front of RPAC to make the crossfall DDA compliant. These upgrades will include the placement of coloured exposed aggerate concrete, construction of a concrete seating wall and garden beds complete with feature lighting and minor landscape works. • Creation of a drop-off zone in front of RPAC. • Lighting upgrades. • Asphalt road resurfacing. • Upgrades to the existing stormwater infrastructure.
Cleveland - PDG-30837 - Fishing Platform Drake Canal, Raby Bay
Redland City Council Contractors will be removing of existing fishing platform and timber rail bollards. Once the platform is removed, fencing will be installed together with sandstone blocks for informal seating. Timeline: Thursday 29 February through to Thursday 11 April 2024, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Cleveland - PDG-43772-2 - Raby Bay Revetment Wall Renewal - Seacrest Court
Redland City Council Contractors will be demolishing the existing revetment wall prior to installation of new revetment wall and retaining wall including installation of raked and vertical wall piles, as well as vertical slope stability piles supporting concrete panels. Timeline: 2nd April 2024 through to 23rd August 2024 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Cleveland - PDG-46586-1 - Raby Bay Foreshore Park & Ross Canal Fishing Connections, Cleveland
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking works at Raby Bay Foreshore Park and Ross Canal. Works at Raby Bay Foreshore Park will include the installation of a section of pathway connecting to the existing pathway, installation of sandstone blocks, a seat, a concrete slab for a bin enclosure and turf to disturbed areas. Ross Canal works will include the construction of a pathway connection between the fishing platform and existing pathway, installation of sandstone blocks, turf to disturbed areas. And removal of a section of poor conditioned brick pathway. Expected Start Date - 08/04/2024 Expected Finish Date - 19/04/2024 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-70084-4 - Raby Bay Rock Armour Replacement FY23/24
Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting rock armour replacement, and replenishment to the rock wall in various locations throughout the Raby Bay Canal Estate. Timeline: 29th April through to 24th May 2023, 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday - Friday. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Dunwich - PDG-63193-1 - Dunwich WWTP Upgrades - Stage 1 Dewatering Unit
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be supplying and installing a pre-identified fit for purpose Screw Press (dewatering unit) to necessary Licenses, Codes, Australian Standards and agreed performance requirements. Timeline: 23 October 2023 through to 30 April 2024, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Mount Cotton, Redland Bay - PDG-64134-2 - SPS134 and Rising Main Upgrade - Mount Cotton
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be partially designing and constructing a new sewer rising main (trenchless portion to be designed) to replace the existing, with upgrade works at Sewer Pump Station 134 and the inlet pipework arrangement at the Mount Cotton Wastewater Treatment Plant. Timeline: 26 February 2024 through to 10 July 2024, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-44721-1 - Park Renewal – Cliftonville Place Park, Redland Bay
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a toddler barnhouse, cantilever spring, spinning seesaw, sand digger; parkway seat, bollards, drinking fountain with dog bowl; sandstone steppers and seating wall, with turf to disturbed area. Removal of very poor conditioned play equipment, shade structure, bollards and seating; and associated works. Expected Start Date - 20/03/2024 Expected Finish Date - 09/05/2024 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Redland Bay - PDG-44839-1 - MBC/LGIP Cycleway Expansion - Orchard Beach Foreshore North, Redland Bay (Moores Road to 13A Rampart)
Redland City Council Contractors are undertaking the removal of the existing 1m wide footpath and the installation of new 3m wide concrete footpath which will be a continuation of the MBC. These works also include the installation turf to disturbed areas, removal and relocation of signage where required, and removal of existing post and rails, and installation of new bollards where required. Expected Start Date - 22/04/2024 Expected Finish Date - 15/05/2024 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Redland Bay - PDG-46414-1 - Weinam Creek Development Stage 3A
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be undertaking works related to the Weinam Creek Development – Stage 3A and as part of the Project, Council will be constructing infrastructure within the Weinam Creek PDA Precinct. Works will involve, but not limited to: o Realignment of Hamilton St to give direct access to Weinam Creek Marina o Construction of a intersection to Hamilton St & Weinam St o Upgrade reconfiguration & realignment of all underground services incl of water, sewer, Telstra and electrical o Road resurfacing works to areas of the road which have been disturbed o Installation of line marking and traffic signs o Upgrade of all street lighting o Landscaping works Timeline: Tuesday 10th January 2023 and will be completed by June 2024, (weather permitting), 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-46512 - Weinam Creek Development - Stage 3B-A
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be undertaking works related to the Weinam Creek Development – Stage 3B-A and as part of the Project, Council will be constructing infrastructure within the Moore’s Road Carpark, Redland Bay. Works will involve, but not limited to: o Reconfiguration of existing carpark in Moore’s Road. o Installation of Water pipes o Installation of Manholes & Catchpits o Installation of kerb and channelling. o Installation of traffic islands. o Road resurfacing works to areas of the road which have been disturbed. o Installation of line marking and traffic signs. o Placement of turf to disturbed areas o Landscaping works. Timeline: 10/01/2023 through to 30/09/2024, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-46982-2 - Charlie Buckler Sports Fields Upgrade Project
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking construction of the Charlie Buckler Sports Field Project and associated works at Redland Bay, Redland City. This project for the delivery for the Charlie Buckler Sports Upgrade Project includes the following: • Demolish and removal of the following existing infrastructure: o Rugby Union/Cricket clubhouse o Storage shed o DOLA o Basketball halfcourt o BMX Track o Cricket nets • Retain and protect: o Existing car parking o Play equipment o Tennis clubhouse facility and tennis courts o Sports field lighting • Construction of: o New clubhouse and storage including all associated service including all services: o Building o Plumbing o Electrical o Landscaping o Reconfiguration of the vehicular entry to the site including associated civil and landscaping works. o Extension of carpark o Field reconfiguration including relocation of goal posts in new irrigation system o Footpaths o Cricket nets o Reconfigured DOLA Timeline: Wednesday 23rd August through to Monday 17th June 2024, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Russell Island - PDG-80920 - 23/24 SMBI Road Upgrade - Russell ISland
Benefits: The benefits of the SMBI Road Upgrade Program (Russell Island) include: • Reduce the ongoing maintenance of road which degrades very quickly after inclement weather. • Minimise dust generated from traffic using an unsealed road. Description of Works: Redland City Council Construction Crews will be upgrading various streets on Russell Island. Primarily, these works will involve the installation of gravel pavement and the application of a two-coat bitumen seal. The roads which are scheduled for sealing include: • 80603 – The Boulevard from Crescent Drive to Lions Park. • 80604 – Crescent Drive from Paradise Avenue to the end. • 80612 - Catamaran Street from Sabot Street to #9 Catamaran Street. • 80613 – Trimaran Street from Titala Street to #14 Trimaran Street. • 80614 – Aranda Street from Titala Street to #16 Aranda Street. • 80619 – Gunsynd Street from Berborough Street to #16 Gunsynd Street. Timeline: 15th January 2024 through to end of March 2024. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather, poor site conditions and Contractor availability.
Thorneside - PDG-64303-3 - SPS029 Wet Well Renewal-Thorneside
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be designing and constructing the renewal of Sewerage Pump Station (SPS) SPS029 wet well, dry well and associated infrastructure. Timeline: 27 September 2023 through to 31 May 2024, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Thornlands - PDG-43628-1 - Panorama Drive (South Street intersection) Pedestrian Safety Improvements, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of kerb ramps, traffic island, tactiles, turf to disturbed areas and associated works. Expected Start Date - 02/04/2024 Expected Finish Date - 19/04/2024 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-43971-3 - Wellington St / Panorama Drive Upgrade – Stage 1
The Wellington Street / Panorama Drive Road upgrade program is a road duplication project servicing a key Council controlled north-south arterial link in the centre north of Redland City. Stage 1 will involve road duplication along Panorama Drive from Boundary Road to the Wellington Street intersection and on Wellington Street from the Panorama Drive intersection as far as South Street, Thornlands. The Australian Government will provide $15 million towards intersection upgrades along the route for Stage 1 through the Infrastructure Investment Program, and the Queensland Government is providing $500,000 through the Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program 2021-2022. More information about the project is available at Wellington Street / Panorama Drive road upgrade program | Your Say Redlands Coast Minor disruptions are likely to occur as works progress and advance notice will be provided to road users and other stakeholders during these times. While disruptions are expected, much of the work will allow for the existing road to continue to carry traffic while the new lanes are constructed on the adjacent road reserve. Safety is a key priority for Council and there may be some reduction in posted speed limits during construction. Expected Start Date: February 2023 Expected Finish Date: October 2024 (weather and site conditions permitting) Some nightworks will occur throughout the project to minimise traffic disruptions
Thornlands - PDG-44128-1 - Footpath Expansion – Cleveland Redland Bay Road, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a new section of concrete footpath connecting to the existing footpaths, installation of turf to disturbed areas and associated works. Expected Start Date - 06/05/2024 Expected Finish Date - 09/05/2024 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade.
