Non-essential Council services will be closed for the public holiday on Monday 7 October. Bins will continue to be collected and Recycling and Waste Centres will be open.

Works update

We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

City Operations

- Paperbark Removal and Replacement Program - Cleveland,Redland Bay & Thornlands
Paperbark removal and stump grinding to be completed at four properties by a Council Contractor. - No Road Closure. This work is planned to commence Monday 15 July 2024 and to be completed by Monday 30 September 2024 between the hours of 7.00am and 4.00pm (weather permitting).
Mount Cotton - Fig Tree removal x4 2 Sanctuary Drive Mount Cotton - 2 Sanctuary Drive, Mount Cotton
Four Fig Trees located on the frontage of 2 Sanctuary Drive, Mount Cotton are being removed. The trees are being removed due to causing significant damage to surrounding infrastructure - No Road Closure Traffic Control and/or advisory signs will be placed in locations where traffic may be impacted.. This work is planned to commence Monday 16 September 2024 and to be completed by Friday 20 September 2024 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 04:00 PM (weather permitting).
Victoria Point - Cascade Fountain Works - Cascades Park, 314 Colburn Ave, Victoria Point
Redland City Council staff and contractors will soon undertake make safe remediation of the old water feature at Cascades Park. The water feature will be converted to a dry creek bed, accompanied by minor landscaping works. - No Road Closure Traffic Control and/or advisory signs will be placed in locations where traffic may be impacted.. This work is planned to commence Monday 30 September 2024 and to be completed by Friday 4 October 2024 between the hours of 6.30am and 04:00 PM (weather permitting).

City Infrastructure

Victoria Point - Sewer Main Extension/Connection - Carnoustie Court,
City Water Contractors are undertaking sewer works to connect a new subdivision, with works expected to take 4 weeks to complete, weather permitting. - Full Road Closure Daytime road closure with traffic control in place. These works are planned to occur between the hours of 6.30 am and 5.00 pm, commencing on Tuesday 4 June 2024 and completed by Friday 28 June 2024, weather permitting.

Projects

Birkdale - PDG-20293-1 - Willard's Farm Restoration, Birkdale
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be completing the following works: Partial demolition, restoration of building elements and construction of building elements, and installation of stormwater, electrical and hydraulic services and associated works. It is anticipated that restoration works will be comprised of various components including building restoration, site preparations and service utility upgrades. This includes: • Restoration works for the existing House (including service utility connections); • Restoration works for the existing Milking Shed; • Restoration works for the existing Cream Shed (Creamery); • Access Platform construction for the existing Cream Shed (Creamery); • Restoration works for the existing Garage; • Restoration works for the existing Cistern; • Viewing platform construction for the existing Cistern; • Restoration works for the existing Elevated Tank; • Install security lighting; and • Install CCTV security system; Timeline: 28 AUGUST 2023 through to 28 JUNE 2024, 7.00am to 6.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Capalaba - PDG-46666 - Drainage Maintenance –Springbrook Drive, Capalaba.
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking drainage maintenance works in the park land located on Springbrook Drive, Capalaba QLD 4157. These works will involve the following: • Installation of gabion cages; • Installation of rock; • Other associated works required to complete this project. Timeline: Monday 20th May 2024 through to Friday 28th June 2024, 7.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (weather permitting). This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Cleveland - PDG-64515-2 - Kinross Road Development Sewerage Trunk Infrastructure New Pump Station
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking installation of New Pump Station and associated works. Expected Start Date - 15/07/2024 Expected Finish Date - 12/02/2025 (Weather and site conditions permitting)
Dunwich - PDG-63193-1 - Dunwich WWTP Upgrades - Stage 1 Dewatering Unit
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be supplying and installing a pre-identified fit for purpose Screw Press (dewatering unit) to necessary Licenses, Codes, Australian Standards and agreed performance requirements. Timeline: 23 October 2023 through to 30 April 2024, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Macleay Island - PDG-80920-1 - 23/24 SMBI Road Upgrade Program – Macleay Island.
Redland City Council Construction Crews will be upgrading various street on Macleay Island. Primarily, these works will involve the installation of gravel pavement and the application of two coat bitumen seal. The roads which are scheduled for sealing include: • 80505 – Ilya Street from Kate Street to 28 Beelong Street. • 80509 – Kardinia Street from Ilya Street to 27 Kardinia Street. • 80563 – Conran Street from Lonicera Street to the end of Conran Street. • 80654 – Peter Court from Lonicera Street to the end of Peter Court. • 80565 – Jordan Street from Conran Street to 9 Jordan Street. • 80566 – Frenchem Terrace from High Central Road to 25 Frenchem Terrace. • 80569 – Donald Street from Thomas Street to Barry Street. • 80570 – Barry Street from Western Road to Donald Street. • 80571 – Con Street from Western Road to 6-10 Con Street. • 80572 – Columbia Street from Western Road to Eagle Street. Timeline: 13th May 2024 through to late September 2024. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather, poor site conditions and contractor availability.
Macleay Island - PDG-44041 - Mango Crescent, Macleay Island – Drainage Renewal/ Expansion & SMBI Road Upgrade Program.
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking drainage renewal and expansion works at Mango Crescent, Macleay Island. These works will involve the following but not limited to: • Installation of a 525mm stormwater line (using black-max pipes). • Installation of field inlet outside 7 Mango Crescent. • Construction of a swale drain. • Two Coat Bitumen sealing. Timeline: Monday 5th August 2024 with anticipated completion early November 2024. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-46512 - Weinam Creek Development - Stage 3B-A
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be undertaking works related to the Weinam Creek Development – Stage 3B-A and as part of the Project, Council will be constructing infrastructure within the Moore’s Road Carpark, Redland Bay. Works will involve, but not limited to: o Reconfiguration of existing carpark in Moore’s Road. o Installation of Water pipes o Installation of Manholes & Catchpits o Installation of kerb and channelling. o Installation of traffic islands. o Road resurfacing works to areas of the road which have been disturbed. o Installation of line marking and traffic signs. o Placement of turf to disturbed areas o Landscaping works. Timeline: 10/01/2023 through to 30/09/2024, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-46414-1 - Weinam Creek Development Stage 3A
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be undertaking works related to the Weinam Creek Development – Stage 3A and as part of the Project, Council will be constructing infrastructure within the Weinam Creek PDA Precinct. Works will involve, but not limited to: o Realignment of Hamilton St to give direct access to Weinam Creek Marina o Construction of a intersection to Hamilton St & Weinam St o Upgrade reconfiguration & realignment of all underground services incl of water, sewer, Telstra and electrical o Road resurfacing works to areas of the road which have been disturbed o Installation of line marking and traffic signs o Upgrade of all street lighting o Landscaping works Timeline: Tuesday 10th January 2023 and will be completed by June 2024, (weather permitting), 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Thorneside - PDG-44185-1 - Sports Field Lighting Upgrade - William Taylor Memorial Sports Field
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading the sports field lighting at William Taylor Sports Field 1, Thorneside and associated switchboard works. The number of lighting towers will decrease from 6 to 4, but advanced LED technology will provide superior coverage and performance. Expected Start Date - 08/10/2024 Expected Finish Date - 13/12/2024 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-43971-3 - Wellington St / Panorama Drive Upgrade – Stage 1
The Wellington Street / Panorama Drive Road upgrade program is a road duplication project servicing a key Council controlled north-south arterial link in the centre north of Redland City. Stage 1 will involve road duplication along Panorama Drive from Boundary Road to the Wellington Street intersection and on Wellington Street from the Panorama Drive intersection as far as South Street, Thornlands. The Australian Government will provide $15 million towards intersection upgrades along the route for Stage 1 through the Infrastructure Investment Program, and the Queensland Government is providing $500,000 through the Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program 2021-2022. More information about the project is available at Wellington Street / Panorama Drive road upgrade program | Your Say Redlands Coast Minor disruptions are likely to occur as works progress and advance notice will be provided to road users and other stakeholders during these times. While disruptions are expected, much of the work will allow for the existing road to continue to carry traffic while the new lanes are constructed on the adjacent road reserve. Safety is a key priority for Council and there may be some reduction in posted speed limits during construction. Expected Start Date: February 2023 Expected Finish Date: October 2024 (weather and site conditions permitting) Some nightworks will occur throughout the project to minimise traffic disruptions
Thornlands - PDG-20827-1 - Community Infrastructure Program – Solar Lights - Robert Mackie Park, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of Solar lighting, as well as turf remediation as required, along existing footpath to Dog Off Leash Area and associated works. Expected Start Date - 14/10/2024 Expected Finish Date - 11/11/2024 (weather and site conditions permitting)
Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade. Victoria Point - PDG-46355-1 - Footpath Renewal – 98-100 Point O’Halloran Road, Victoria Point
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of new sections of footpath connecting to existing, kerb ramps, the removal of trees, turf to disturbed areas and associated works.
