Work Experience with Redland City Council
Are you currently studying and looking for an opportunity to gain meaningful on-the-job experience in your chosen field?
Redland City Council offers a range of opportunities for students to increase their skillset and explore potential careers. As an organisation, we encourage fresh ideas and would welcome your application for a placement with us.
We offer unpaid work experience in various disciplines, including:
- Community Spaces
- Civil Engineering
- Communication, Engagement and Tourism
- Creative Arts (currently Art Gallery only)
- Environment and Regulation
- Financial Services
- Information Technology
- Libraries (currently unavailable)
- Parks and Conservation
- People, Culture and Organisational Performance
- Planning and Assessment
- Roads, Drainage, Waste and Marine Maintenance
- Workplace Health and Safety
Am I eligible?
To apply, you must:
- Be a secondary school student, who is at least 14 years of age; OR
- Be enrolled, and actively studying, with a Registered Training Organisation; OR
- Be enrolled, and actively studying, in a tertiary program at a recognised Australian degree-granting university;
- Have a visa/working rights that allow for this type of activity (if applicable);
- Have public liability and personal accident insurance provided by your recognised educational institution.
Your work experience application should also be relevant to the course you are studying.

Am I eligible?
To apply, you must:
- Have graduated from an Australian university in a relevant tertiary qualification within the last 2 years.
- To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
- Successful applicants may be asked to consent to a police check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying. Each application will be considered on its merits.
