Register of Interests – Mark Edwards [PDF 307KB]

Since 2012, Mark has been the Councillor for Division 5, the Southern Moreton Bay Islands and Redland Bay; a remarkable achievement as he is not only the first Councillor for that Division to be returned for a consecutive term, but also for a third concurrent term. This reflects on Mark's dedication to serve the City and the support he has earned from the majority of residents.

Mark has an association with the Redlands spanning 40 years, with his parents retiring to Wellington Point in 1974 when his father retired after 28 years serving in the Australian Defence Forces. Mark attended Cleveland State High School, the only high school at the time in the then Shire. His first full-time employment commenced in Banking at a Cleveland branch, a career which spanned 20 years and saw Mark climb through the ranks through various accountancy and manager positions in the Bank, culminating in a regional management position with Westpac in Brisbane.

Mark and his wife, a born and bred Cleveland girl whose late father Frank Bradley was a three-term Councillor representing Cleveland and North Stradbroke Island/Mimjerribah, decided that the days of transfer every two years were over. Mark engaged in a number of business activities outside banking, primarily in tourism and small-scale residential property development.

Mark’s understanding of financial management and the needs of business provided him with the skill-sets suited for his role as Councillor. With a focus on delivering value-driven outcomes for the community and understanding the needs of small business, Mark is determined to enhance the value of Council for the residents of Division 5 and the whole of the city.
