Places prohibited to dogs

Dogs are prohibited in a number of public places in Redland City known as animal control areas. Prohibitions may apply at all times or at specified times.

Places prohibited to dogs at all times

Under Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2015, Redland City has animal control areas where a person is prohibited from bringing a dog at any time.

Cleveland - Raby Bay All foreshore and seashore at Raby Bay, Cleveland except the foreshore and seashore in front of Raby Bay Foreshore Park between the first groyne in an easterly direction from the intersection of Masthead Drive and Seacrest Court and the first groyne in a westerly direction from the intersection of Masthead Drive and Seacrest Court.
Coochiemudlo Island All reserves on Coochiemudlo Island and the foreshore and seashore of Coochiemudlo Island from the boat ramp at Main Beach, extending in:
  • an easterly direction to Norfolk Beach; and
  • a northerly direction to Morwong Beach; and
  • a westerly direction to the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Victoria Parade at Morwong Beach.
Redland Bay, North Stradbroke Island, Russell Island, Macleay Island, Lamb Island and Karragarra Island The foreshore and seashore in front of the swimming enclosures.
North Stradbroke Island - Cylinder Beach The foreshore, seashore and reserve at Cylinder Beach, North Stradbroke Island between the foreshore and the roads abutting the reserve.
North Stradbroke Island - Myora Springs Reserve Myora Springs Reserve, North Stradbroke Island.
North Stradbroke Island - Brown Lake Conservation Area Lot 70 on SL4098
Ormiston - Empire Point Wader Roost Lot 116 on SL8945
Redland Bay - Redland Bay Esplanade The foreshore and seashore adjacent to Redland Bay Esplanade, Redland Bay where Gray Street and Bay Street intersect.
Thorneside - Beth Boyd Park The reserve and the adjacent foreshore and seashore at Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside - other than the designated walkway.
Victoria Point - W.H. Yeo Park The foreshore and seashore adjacent to W.H. Yeo Park, Victoria Point, between the intersection of Thompson Street and Thompson Esplanade, and west to the mouth of Moogurrapum Creek.
Wellington Point - Wellington Point Reserve Wellington Point Reserve, Wellington Point, but limited to the designated swimming beach and the playground and picnic area adjacent to the access road into Wellington Point Reserve.

Places prohibited to dogs at specified times

Under Local Law No. 2, Redland City has animal control areas where a person is prohibited from bringing a dog during specified hours on specified days. See below for details.

Location Details
Cleveland - Bloomfield Street Between Queen Street and Middle Street - the prohibition applies only between 6am and 4pm on Sunday.
Cleveland - Bloomfield Street Between Middle Street and Shore Street - the prohibition applies only between 6am and 4pm on Sunday.
Cleveland - Queen Street The footpath on the northern side. From Doig Street in the west to the shopping centre car park entrance, which is located 105m from the centre of the intersection of Bloomfield Street and Queen Street in the east - the prohibition applies only between 6am and 4pm on Sunday. 
Cleveland - Middle Street The footpath on the southern side of Middle Street from Doig Street in the west to the pedestrian crossing located 135m from the centre of the intersection of Bloomfield Street and Middle Street in the east - the prohibition applies only between 6am and 4pm on Sunday. 
Victoria Point - The foreshore and seashore at the end of each of Edinburgh Street, Church Street and Wilson Street The prohibition applies on Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays.
Victoria Point - W.H. Yeo Park Dog owners are permitted to walk their dogs on-leash at W.H. Yeo Park, Victoria Point weekdays and before 9am and after 4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Dogs are still prohibited on the beach area adjacent to W.H. Yeo Park.
Wellington Point - Wellington Point Reserve

Dogs are prohibited in Wellington Point Reserve between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Statutory Holidays.

Dogs are allowed under effective control, on-leash on the sandbar (that is exposed at low tide) between the reserve and King Island, outside the Prohibited times specified above.

Dog owners caught with their dogs in prohibited areas will receive an on-the-spot fine under Council's Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2015.
