North Stradbroke Island camping (Minjerribah)

North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), or 'Straddie', offers a range camping grounds and pristine beach camping areas. All camping and 4WD permits are arranged through Minjerribah Camping - bookings are essential.

Beach camping

Foreshore beach camping areas are located on Flinders Beach and Main Beach. Amenities are limited and access to camping areas is by 4WD vehicle or on foot.

Dogs are permitted within these two camping areas, but must kept on-leash at all times.

Campgrounds

Campgrounds on the island are located near the main towns of Amity Point, Dunwich and Point Lookout. These locations offer a wide range of amenities including shelter, toilet and shower blocks, barbeques and cooking facilities.

Camping and permit management

Redland City Council has given the management responsibility for camp bookings and vehicle permits to Minjerribah Camping

This change continues to provide economic and employment opportunity to local Indigenous people. This follows a Federal Court Native Title determination.

Minjerribah Camping manages these areas within a state government framework.
