Sign on beach warning about Stonefish

When paddling or wading in the bay or coastal waters, take care to avoid stings from stonefish by:

  • checking for local warning signs that may be erected in popular swimming and wading areas
  • wearing thick-soled shoes
  • looking where you're wading
  • monitoring the activity of children.

The sting from a stonefish is very painful. If you are stung, seek immediate medical attention.
