Leasing of Council land and facilities

Community leasing provides access to Council owned or managed land and facilities for the delivery of opportunities which contribute to building safe, strong and self-reliant communities.

Council has an adopted policy Leasing of Council Land and Facilities POL-3071 [PDF, 0.1MB] which demonstrates our committment to maximising the community benefit and use of Council owned and controlled land and facilities ensuring equitable, needs based distribution of facilities and land.

Information for potential lessees

The Community Leasing of Council Owned Land and Facilities Information Kit [PDF, 3.0MB] has been developed to assist organisations with preparing an application to lease Council land or facilities. It also includes information about responsibilities of a lessee including charges, maintenance, alterations and reporting. Once you have reviewed the information kit, you can download a land and facilities application form for consideration by Council's Community Land and Facilities Panel.

Community gardens are often located on Council land. The Community Gardens Information Kit [PDF, 2.2MB] provides guidance on establishing community gardens, including the need to consult with Council about a suitable location. General locations are recommended in Council's Open Space Strategy.
