Live and Local Music Industry Program  

Redland City Council in partnership with Creative AllianceLive Music Office (LMO), and QMusic is proud to present Redland Coast’s Live and Local Music Industry Program – supporting the creative and career development of local musicians and continue to create a thriving live music scene on Redlands Coast.

The Live and Local program connects and builds the capacity of  local Redlands Coast musicians, businesses, events and music venues by:

  • engaging and mentoring a local live music curator
  • providing performance opportunities for new and emerging musicians
  • supporting Redlands Coast’s venue-based live music industry
  • delivering live music events as part of a region-wide micro-festival
  • providing skills and professional development workshops
  • holding local and regional industry roundtables and networking opportunities
  • supporting better regulation and music industry policy implementation
  • fostering a consistent approach to building a sustainable live music industry in Redlands Coast
  • building support for future projects based on the experience, engagement and information gained through the program

2022 Live and Local Music Industry Forum

You are invited to Redlands Coast's Live and Local Music Industry Forum on Wednesday 17 August 2022. Local musicians, festival and event organisers, live music venues, community organisations and local entertainment providers are encouraged to attend.

Hosted by Redland City Council and facilitated by the Live Music Office, the Live and Local Music Industry Forum will provide the opportunity to hear from music industry experts, meet with local musicians and live music venues and take part in an interactive workshop to support and develop a thriving live music scene on Redlands Coast.

Event: Redlands Coast Live and Local Music Industry Forum
Date: Wednesday 17 August 2022
Arrive: 4.15pm arrival for a 4.30pm start. Forum will conclude at 7.30pm (light catering provided)
Venue: Redland Performing Arts Centre, Events Hall, 2-16 Middle Street Cleveland

2021 Professional Development Sessions

Council hosted two professional development sessions in 2021 facilitated by QMusic.

 The Music Business: Getting Started

  • This panel provided the basics about how to start a music business, from the basics to the “intangibles”, the experts provided their learnings from their experience in the music industry.

Panellists included: 

  • Dom Miller – QMusic – Professional Development Host
  • Chris Langenberg – Artist (sweater curse), Manager, venue booker, festival promoter
  • Andrea Smith – Music Business Mentor – Applause Genie
  • Annie Peterson – Event producer – Women In Voice (previously Woodford)

Music Foundations

  • This panel discussed the tools you need to put on your own shows, get gigs and get paid.
  • Foundational topics included playing, promoting and performing and how to make your shows as good as they can be.

Redlands Coast Live and Local Micro-Festival 

The Redlands Coast music industry received a welcome boost through a Live and Local micro-festival, which was held over three days from 22-24 October 2021. 

The three-day event showcased live original music organised by the creative community across Redlands Coast.
