The Redlands Coast Community Bushcare Program began in 1995 with just a handful of Bushcare groups. Bushcare has since grown to more than 40 groups working throughout the Redlands Coast mainland and Bay Islands.
Bushcare brings the community and Council together to restore conservation areas by:
- planting local native species
- removing weeds and rubbish
- monitoring flora, fauna and water quality
- collecting native seed for propagation.
Why join Bushcare?
- Make a real difference to the Redlands natural environment
- Build life-long friendships
- Stay active and healthy in the outdoors
- Learn new skills and develop your knowledge of plants and animals.
Redland City Council provides groups with equipment, materials, training and the support of a dedicated Bushcare Officer. Social events and free workshops are also arranged throughout the year.
Join a group
Participating in Bushcare is as simple as finding out what Bushcare groups are in your area. Groups meet once a month for two hours and work towards common goals.
