Wildlife in the Redlands

Wildlife in the Redlands - koala

The Redlands is home to an amazing variety of native flora and fauna, with over 1700 native species of plants and animals recorded here. Our fauna species can be found all over the city and many also make their homes in our urban areas, including koalas, wallabies and echidnas.

Moreton Bay hosts a number of marine creatures such as whales, dolphins, sea turtles and the rare dugong. The summer months see migratory wader birds feeding on our foreshores and mudflats and majestic humpback whales can be seen cruising along the coastline from June to November.
