Syringe and needle disposal

Syringes and needles should be disposed of safely and carefully. Residents have three disposal options, all of which are free of charge:

  • Recycling and Waste Centres – the following locations will accept sealed containers (up to 2 litres) with syringes and needles (please provide proof of residency):
  • Your domestic general waste bin – syringes and needles must be contained in a sealed, puncture proof tin or container.
  • Wall-mounted containers at various locations – visit sharps disposal locations.

Guidance if you discover syringes

If you find a syringe in a public space, do not touch or attempt to move it. Follow the guidance provided on needles, syringes and sharps.
