Cleveland Aquatic Centre

⚠️ Cleveland Aquatic Centre Update – closed for maintenance and electrical work. Cleveland Aquatic Centre remains closed after shutting its doors on 24 March 2020 under mandated COVID-19 health restrictions across Australia. The centre is now having work completed, including electrical maintenance.

The Cleveland Aquatic Centre will be closed for essential maintenance and renewal work until October 2020.

This work is being funded by an $830,000 Covid Works for Queensland State Government grant.

Redland City Council and Belgravia Leisure apologise for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming patrons back to the refurbished centre in October. Find out more about the maintenance work.

The works planned for the Cleveland Aquatic Centre will enhance the operational efficiency, safety and amenity of the centre for many years to come.

The project includes essential work on centre plumbing and electrical infrastructure for improved safety and operation and other work designed to refresh the centre appearance and facilities.

Council has received an $830,000 Covid Works for Queensland State Government grant for the work.

With State Government funding support, the work program will include pipe repair, joint, lighting and tiling repairs, major electrical upgrades, sand filter replacement, concourse painting, timber decking, and shade sail replacement.

The regular seven-day a week year-round operation of the popular Cleveland Aquatic Centre makes the planning and conduct of substantial maintenance work difficult.

The centre's closure since late March, under mandated COVID-19 health directives, has allowed for a full investigation of work required at the centre. This time has also allowed for project specification, quotations, planning and timetabling and application for State Government funding to support the planned works.

For safety and efficiency, the works now planned for coming months such as major electrical and plumbing work, require the centre's closure.

The planned completion of the work for re-opening in October should help to reduce the need for similar centre closures in the future.

Unfortunately yes. Substantial elements of the planned work, including major electrical plumbing and tiled surface repair work, cannot be done while the centre's pools and facilities are operational.

Council and Cleveland Aquatic Centre operator Belgravia Leisure have agreed the safest, most efficient and timely approach to completion of the work is while the centre is closed.

The closure will be understandably frustrating for users. The planned closure now allows for the significant revitalisation work to be completed.

While factors like weather, material supply and contractor availability may impact the work schedule, priority will be given to completion of major work elements within the project timeframe.

The Cleveland Aquatic Centre is a public pool managed by Belgravia Leisure.
