Glossy Black Cockatoo Community Planting

Our annual Glossy Black Cockatoo community planting is held in support of ‘Threatened Species Week’. Help plant food and habitat trees for the vulnerable Glossy Black Cockatoos which inhabit the bay islands.

Just show up on the day with closed-in shoes, sun smart clothing and water to drink. The event will finish with a talk on this species and a sausage sizzle and drink.

Bay Art - St John Vianney's Primary School and Parish Community Art Show

A community wide event showcasing original artworks form local professional and semi professional artists. All artworks will be available for sale. National Tree Day

Help create habitat by participating in this years National Tree Day. National Tree Day is Australia’s biggest community planting. Volunteer to increase the results of last year’s event. Last year 312, 000 volunteers planted 1.6 million native plants throughout Australia.

Just show up on the day with closed-in shoes, sun smart clothing and water to drink. Everything else is taken care of including equipment, gloves, and a free sausage sizzle and drink.

Tighe Cams Hillclimb Series Round 4

This is a motorsport event held at the MG Car Club of Qld's Mt Cotton circuit, Gramzow Rd, Mt Cotton. Six rounds of the series are held at Mt Cotton throughout the year.

Even better than that; it is all free for spectators. Donation boxes are available for those who would like to contribute to the upkeep of the facility. Action starts at 8.30am and finishes at about 4pm.

Redland Museum Concert (Seniors Week)

Redland Museum will present two concerts to celebrate Seniors Week. The concerts will be performed by the cast of Centre Stage Entertainers, featuring many of the original songs from their musical ‘The First Fleet’ which depicts the lives of the convicts who were sent to Port Jackson in 1788. Well loved songs from the past will also be included in the programme. Watch out for ‘Candy Floss and the Ice Screams’.

Space for each performance is limited, so make your bookings early by phoning 3286 3494 or calling at the museum for your tickets which are $5 each. Also during Seniors Week, two exhibitions recognising the Sesquicentenary of Queensland will be on display at the museum.

Old Truck & Machinery Show

Over 150 old Trucks and mobile machinery on display over 2 days. There will be parades, with commentary, at regular intervals with the driver of each vehicle giving a history of the vehicle. Mattew Stanley Foundation Team Invitation Bridge to Brisbane

Those who support the quest of the Matthew Stanley Foundation are invited to join its team at 6.25am in the Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane. Set up in 2006 by Paul and Kay Stanley after their son Matthew was killed at a party in Alexandra Hills, the Matthew Stanley Foundation has given considerable energy to the One Punch Can Kill Campaign and other initiatives to prevent youth violence. Matt will not be there physically but team members will recognise the invisible footprints and space that belongs to a boy whose life was violently ripped from this world. Cost $30 plus $2 postage.
