Water conservation
While the Redlands enjoys a good supply of water from North Stradbroke Island and Leslie Harrison Dam, both sources feed and refill by rainfall and so are not limitless.
Water must be carefully managed. Its long-term sustainability depends on everyone taking a sensible approach to water management, especially in times of shortage.
Redland City Council has a number of initiatives to help the community save this valuable resource.
- The Home WaterWise Service >>
Pay $20 for this subsidised service. A licensed plumber will install water efficient devices and give advice on water saving strategies for your home.
- Harvesting rainwater >>
Council encourages you to install rainwater harvesting systems such as water tanks.
- Pool leaks >>
While evaporation must be managed with the use of pool covers, one of the biggest water wasters is hidden leaks in the pool pumping system.
