Thornlands Depot


Council's depot at Thornlands is our collection point for hazardous waste. You'll find us on the corner of Wellington and South Streets, Thornlands.

This is not a waste transfer station so don't bring general waste.

Remember to bring proof of residency (for example your driver’s licence or rates notice). Commercially generated waste will not be accepted.

Surrender dates

On any of the dates below, Redlands ratepayers can bring hazardous waste (a general limit of 5L per type of hazardous waste applies) for safe disposal.

  • Pesticides
  • Paint (excluding dry paint tins), stains, varnish, strippers, glue, rust inhibitors, wood preservatives
  • hydrocarbons, solvents, thinners
  • acids and alkalis
  • household chemicals
  • pool chemicals
  • chemical containers
  • smoke alarms
  • lubricant grease

 

Why we hold hazardous waste surrender days

Hazardous waste can be a threat to your health when left lying around your home. It can also be a threat when people incorrectly dispose of it. We can treat waste to render it non-hazardous before disposal.
