Water

Redland WaterWhere does our water come from?

In the Redlands, we get our water from two sources:

  • Leslie Harrison Dam on Tingalpa Creek
  • North Stradbroke Island.

Untreated water from these two sources is pumped into treatment plants on North Stradbroke Island and at Capalaba to purify it. It is then pumped through more than 1,000 kilometres of water pipes to households and businesses all around the Redlands.

Water fluoridation

Premier Anna Bligh has announced that the Government would tackle the poor conditions of Queensland's oral health by introducing fluoride into the State's water supplies. Redland City Council will not be involved in adding fluoride to Redland's water supply, which is now owned by the State.
