A team of people from the island has been collecting oral histories on behalf of the Redland Shire Council’s Local History program since 2001. Nearly 100 people were interviewed and seven stories selected. About 200 photos have been added to the local history collection.

Thanks to a grant from the State Library of Queenland’s Queensland Stories project, people from all over the world can now share the experience of what life was on "Straddie" over the years.

For more information about the oral history program, contact local historian Tracy Ryan on 07 3829 8311.
