Our suburbs

The area we know as the Redlands has a long and rich history. The area’s pleasant climate and abundance of food from the sea and land have always attracted human beings and encouraged them to settle here for millennia. Their actions and lifestyles are what make up our history.

The Redlands and its suburban boundaries are relatively new in our history. The Redlands was formed in 1949 from the amalgamation of Cleveland Shire and the northern parts of the Tingalpa Shire. Both these shires date back to the 1880s. Our first mainland suburbs date to the 1850s while the islands have always formed their own natural boundaries.

The following information begins with overviews of our suburbs. To find more detailed information on various topics, follow the links on each page.
