Membership
How do I join?
It is easy to become a library member. Come to any of our
libraries with appropriate identification showing your signature and current residential address. You can also join online by clicking on the “
Join the library” icon on
Red-e-cat, the online library catalogue.
You will be required to sign your library card. If you are under 18, it will need to be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Who can join?
Membership is available for ratepayers or residents of the Redlands, Brisbane City or Logan City. Membership is open to any age. Visitors to the Redlands can join as temporary members.
How much does it cost?
Membership is free.
What can I borrow?
You will receive a library card which allows you to borrow from any of the
Redland Libraries. You can borrow up to 20 items for four weeks. This can be any combination of books, magazines, kits, CDs, CD Roms, DVDs, videos or talking books.
What if I lose my card?
If your card is lost or stolen, you should report it immediately, so that you are not held responsible for items borrowed by an unauthorised person using your card.
Are there any overdue fees?
No overdue fines are charged, but you may not be able to borrow more items until overdue items are returned.
How can I return my borrowed items?
You can return them at any of the
Redland Libraries. After-hours book chutes are also available for you to return items when the libraries are closed (with the exception of Christmas and Easter).
How do I renew loans?
I’m sure I returned an item, yet it is still on my card.
Advise library staff as soon as possible if you are unable to locate the item after a thorough search at home. Library staff will check the shelves and attempt to find the item. If the item cannot be found, you may be required to pay for the replacement cost of the item.
The book I want is out on loan. What can I do?
You can reserve the item on the library catalogue (
Red-e-cat) at the library, online or by phoning any of the
Redland Libraries. When the item is available you will receive notification for collecting. This is a free service.
