Council has decided on a range of parking options for the Weinam Creek ferry terminal. This range of options will allow users to make their own choice about their preferred parking arrangements.
Overview of new parking options
Reserved offsite parking
This parking meets the needs of island residents requiring long term parking. A new offsite carpark will be established within a reasonable distance from the ferry terminal.
- This will be a secure enclosure.
- Users will have an allocated, guaranteed parking space.
- An on-call shuttle bus will run between the Weinam Creek ferry and the carpark. This shuttle service will meet the first and last ferry and the cost of the shuttle bus is included within the annual fee.
The annual fee is $950, rising to $1,150 over the next three years.

Prepaid permit parking
This parking meets the needs of regular commuters. The current Weinam Creek ferry terminal carpark will be upgraded. This upgrade includes a number of measures to improve safety:
- Around the clock car park attendant
- CCTV monitoring
- improved lighting and design
- Improved traffic flow and upgrade of the Weinam Creek bus/ferry terminal
The annual fee is $200, which will rise to $400 over the next three years.
Casual parking spaces
This is parking is intended for users who may not need regular parking. There will be several hundred 'pay and display' parking spaces. The maximum charge is $3 per day, rising to $5 per day over the next three years.
Free parking
Free parking will continue on-street and at the Meisner St and Barge terminal over-flow car parks. The number of free car parking places will increase by approximately 27, to 295, as a result of the interim improvements to these two car parks.
