South-east Thornlands Structure Plan
Project information
Redland Shire Council has prepared a draft structure plan to guide and manage future development in the South-east Thornlands Major Development Area (MDA). The structure plan has been on public exhibition since 4 March 2008.
This structure plan has been prepared to meet the requirements of the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2005-2026. Council in partnership with the State Government and in consultation with the local community, prepared the structure plan and subsequent amendments to the Redlands Planning Scheme.
The draft structure plan ensures a coordinated and sustainable approach in the planning and future development of South-east Thornlands. It presents an integrated land use and infrastructure plan that defines the development intent for the area. It identifies a mix of residential, commercial, community and open space areas to support a community of 3,500 to 4,000 future residents. Click here to find out more about structure plans >>

The draft structure plan consists of a number of components including:

Submissions on the draft South-east Thornlands Structure Plan was closed on 2 June 2008. Thank you for your feedback.
Where to from here?
Council will review all properly made submissions received and decide whether to make any changes to the draft structure plan and proposed amendment to the Redlands Planning Scheme.
After this review and amendment process, the draft South-east Thornlands Structure Plan to be submitted to the Department of Infrastructure and Planning for the final State Interest Review.
Following final State Government endorsement, Council will adopt the structure plan and planning scheme amendment and they will come into effect.
