Rates info
What are rates?
Local governments provide essential services such as roads, rubbish collection and to maintain parks and public open space.
Rates and charges are the major source of Council's revenue.
Other sources include developers' contributions, grants from Federal and State Governments, and other sources such as borrowings.
How are rates calculated?
The amount of rates and charges you pay is made up mainly of the General Rate and Utility Charges. The General Rate is based on valuations calculated by the Queensland State Government's Department of Natural Resources and Water and is subject to a minimum rate set by Council each financial year.
