Development

Redland City Council has primary responsibility for ensuring that the sensitive Redland natural environment and physical character is retained and, where possible, enhanced through the application of appropriate building and development controls for the benefit of residents and visitors alike. Our planning and development services help to deliver high quality and sustainable development.

Many developments need town planning or “development” approval. The introduction of the Integrated Planning Act 1997 (IPA) with its Integrated Development Assessment System (IDAS) provides the framework for a single integrated development assessment system. Council's Assessment Services Group is responsible for the statutory function of development assessment and specific responsibilities include administration of the Redlands Planning Scheme (RPS) and the IPA.
