Raptors workshop

When: 9am - 12pm , Sunday 8 November

An in-depth look at those most majestic of birds - the raptors. From the ubiquitous Whistling Kite, to the powerful Wedge-tailed Eagle and the world's fastest bird - the Peregrine Falcon, we'll spend some time inside learning about their ecology and identification before heading into the field to see what we can find. 

Bats in the Black Swamp

Where: The Black Swamp, Haggup Street end, Cleveland
When: 4.00pm – 7.30pm, Saturday 31 October
Bring: Closed shoes, a chair/blanket, mosquito repellent

Celebrate Halloween with an evening of fun and fascination at the Black Swamp. Bat Care Brisbane will host a sausage sizzle. Bring the kids along - there will be masks and wings to make and wear and other fun activities.
Learn about the amazing lifestyles of bats, and watch as they venture out on their nightly feeding foray. Have a close encounter with micro-bats, who are making impressive in-roads in our fight against mozzies. Carers will bring along a baby or two.

Redlands 2030 Summit

Over the past eight months, Council has been asking what you want the Redlands to look like by 2030 in order to develop a new community plan for the city. The result is the Redlands 2030 Consultation Draft which is now available for public comment, with a final summary to be presented at the Redlands 2030 Summit.

Rate notices

Residents are reminded rates are due Monday, 9 November 2009. After this date interest will accrue at 11% per annum, compound interest calculated on daily balances. A full list of payment options is on the front of your rates notice.
If you did not receive your rates notice, moved address or you would like to discuss your payment options, please call Council. Your next rates notice will be issued 11 January 2010.

Festival of Colour exhibition

Come and talk to the artists from the Coochie Art Group Inc Art Show which features new representational and abstract work in acrylics, oil, watercolour, pastel, mixed media and various drawing media.
The exhibition will run from 25 October to 15 November.

Cleveland Point Reserve master plan

Online survey closes 2 November 
Council is in the process of upgrading Cleveland Point Reserve. You may be aware that the park has recently been used as a film set for the third Narnia film. Now that filming has been completed, Council would like to know whether there has been any change in the way people view the future of this site.
Three options have been developed based on public consultation that took place in 2005. For further information and to provide your feedback, go to the webpage and fill in the online form >>
