Waterways and catchments

The Redlands is a very special area – we have beautiful bushland areas that border urban areas and the Moreton Bay Marine Park.

Our basic day-to-day actions (such as painting and gardening) impact directly on our surrounding areas and indirectly on the downstream environments.

There are many ways which you can help us protect our waterways and ultimately our quality of life in the Redlands.

A waterway can be a creek, river, gully, drain or bay which can sometimes or always contain water. Some are not easily identifiable as they are dry or may have been degraded over time. A catchment is an area of land bounded by hills or mountains, from which rain falls and usually flows to a low point (creek or river) and eventually to the sea.
