Sustainable Home Redlands
Sustainable Home Redlands is now closed for public inspection.
This three-bedroom, two-bathroom display home was built in accordance with the state government’s Smart Housing Design objectives and boasts eco-friendly, energy efficient and affordable design features. It showcases the benefits of sustainable housing for the Redlands community.
Design features include AAA rated fixtures and toilets, two rainwater tanks plus a rainwater bladder located under the front deck for drinking water and irrigation, a compost bin, five-star energy rating and low energy lighting, and open plan living spaces.
Materials such as low toxicity paint, low impact flooring systems and eco-friendly cladding has been used to minimise impact on health and safety. In addition, its design is adaptable to most sites and to suit different budget requirements.
The project is one of a number participating in Queensland’s Sustainable Homes Program, a partnership formed between the Queensland Government’s Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Housing, Department of Public Works, local councils and key housing industry stakeholders.
