Redland Shire Council Open Space Plan
The Redland Shire Council has developed a framework for the planning and management of the Redland’s open space network, which is outlined in the Redland Shire Open Space Plan 2003.
The plan covers all recreation, sporting and conservation open space in the Redland's including the mainland, North Stradbroke Island, Coochiemudlo Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

Included in the Plan:
- Standards for open space which set
- how much open space the Redland's should have based on its’ population
- how big a park should be depending on its’ use
- how far people should have to travel to get to a parkand
- how many people a park should serve.
- Service standards which set out what facilities should be found in each class of park
- Maintenance standards for each park
- A open space supply and demand assessment (or gap assessment) on how the Redlands measures up to the proposed standards
- An Action Plan for the Redlands recommending a range of strategies required to meet projected 2016 targets for open space provision that will be implemented over the next thirteen years
- A classification system based on catchment, function and conservation function.

The Plan contains Council’s available data in maps and tables outlining:
- the location of parks in each classification
- who they serve
- how much open space of each class exists with the Redlands
- how much open space of each class exists within each suburb and island
- areas in the Redlands to be investigated or their recreational or sporting potential.
Council sought feedback from the public on the draft plan, which has now been adopted.
