Don't litter
With such a unique and beautiful natural environment, we need to dispose of rubbish thoughtfully.
In the Redlands, penalities apply to people who litter and dump waste. Illegal dumping of rubbish is monitored through Council's complaint management system. We encourage residents to ring Council on 3829 8999 to report illegal dumping.
If you witness the incident, please provide as much detail as possible, including the vehicle registration number. If the dumping has already occurred, ring us so we can organise a clean up. Reporting such incidents helps us monitor illegal dumping and put in place measures to keep it to a minimum. There are also regular proactive patrols where Council officers address all compliance issues (eg illegal parking, breaches of water restrictions).
The penalty for illegally dumping 20 to 200 litres of waste is a $300 on-the-spot fine. The penalty for illegal dumping more than 200 litres of waste is $1,237.
