Respite services

Redland City Council offers care and respite programs to help frail aged and people with a disability the chance to socialise and receive care by qualified and experienced staff in a safe environment. This provides carers the opportunity to have a break and have some time to themselves.

These Programs are funded by Home and Community Care (HACC) and operated by Redland City Council.

Both centres offer respite care to the frail aged and people with a disability. We are committed to providing quality care that recognises the rights and individuality of each client.
Potential clients must fulfil Home and Community Care Program (HACC) requirements and must be Redland residents. Because of HACC funding, Council is able to offer respite care at a very competitive rate.
Programs offered:
Killara Program
When: 10am-2pm, Monday to Saturday
Where: 71 Wynyard Street, Cleveland
The Killara Place Program is a seniors program that includes centre-based activities and outings from Mondays to Saturdays through the centre. We have qualified and experience staff offering high level of care and support in a safe, clean and modern environment. Programs are tailored to meet individual needs and a hot lunch is prepared daily onsite. Transport to and from the centre is available.
B.U.C.K. Program
When: 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday
Where: 71 Wynyard Street, Cleveland
The B.U.C.K Program is a men only program including centre-based activities and outings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Carinya Program
When: 10am-2pm, Monday to Friday
Where: 11 Oaklands Street, Alexandra Hills
The Carinya Program is a ladies only program for seniors that offers centre-based activities and outings on weekdays through the centre at 11 Oakland Street Centre, Alexandra Hills.
Step Forward Program
When: 9am-2pm, Monday to Thursday

The Step Forward Program offers in-house activities such as computers with internet access, Playstation and Wii games, gardening, cooking and table tennis. Our community access programs include going to the gym, swimming, movies, sailing and tennis. A nominal fee is charged to cover the cost of the food. Transport to and from the centre is available, based on priority of need.
Choices Program
When: 4pm-9pm, Friday nights
Where: 71 Wynyard Street, Cleveland
The Choices Program runs outings from Killara Place on Friday evenings between 4pm to 9pm, with outings such as dinner at a restaurant, dancing, movies, attending the Brisbane Ekka and watching footy at Suncorp Stadium. This program is aimed at young people 18 years and older with a disability and provide participants with social interaction and a chance to make new friends, relax and have fun.
