Toondah Harbour Priority Development Area
An exciting new era for Redland City is under way following Toondah Harbour’s declaration by the State Government as a Priority Development Area (PDA) on Friday 21 June.
Toondah Harbour was only the second in Queensland to gain the State Government’s support as a PDA. The area is little more than a basic ferry terminal and car park at the moment but could be a dynamic and thriving area with a range of exciting marine activities, marina, attractive public spaces, boardwalks, cycling paths, parks, apartments, office spaces, restaurants, shops and a boutique hotel with conference facilities.

Community engagement feedback
Great progress has been made gathering stakeholder and community views and information for the Redlands’ two special interest areas. Recent community engagement meetings, forums and surveys have produced a wealth of good ideas for both of these prime waterfront areas. This information is now being turned into practical planning options, from which two proposed development schemes will be released for public comment late this year and early next year.
Interim Land Use Plan
Economic Development Queensland, in conjunction with Redland City Council, will prepare a new planning document – a Development Scheme – that seeks to provide opportunities for redevelopment including mixed use residential, retail and tourist based development at Toondah Harbour.
The Toondah Harbour PDA covers approximately 67 hectares including 18 hectares over land 1km east of Cleveland Town Centre.
Until the Development Scheme is finalised and adopted, development within the Toondah Harbour PDA will be assessed against an Toondah Harbour Priority Development Area Interim Land Use Plan [257 KB].
