Citizenship

If you would like to become an Australian citizen, you must apply to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Download the forms from the website or phone 131 880 for the forms to be posted out to you.

 

DIAC will let you know when your application has been processed. 

 

Once you are approved for Citizenship, Council will issue you with an invitation to the next available ceremony. Sometimes there can be a wait of up to three months before we contact you for your ceremony.

 

Council conducts these ceremonies about five times a year. We are not provided with candidates details until a month before the next available ceremony so we do not make contact before this time.

 

Your Australian citizenship comes into effect when you attend the ceremony. It can take up to six months from the date you lodge your application to the date of the ceremony.
