Introducing Councillor Craig Ogilvie
Cr Craig Ogilvie was raised in Sydney but completed his education, including two university degrees, Bachelor of Arts (University of Canberra) and Bachelor of Arts (Australian National University), in Canberra.
Craig has been based in the Redlands for the last 15 years. He has worked at the Australian Institute of Sport and at one stage spent three years in Japan running his own business importing Australian-made sporting goods. He speaks Japanese and has tourism industry experience.
He has been involved in fighting for causes for a number of years at the community group level. During that time he worked in the tourism industry in a guiding and marketing role.
He was co-organiser of the Redlands Rates Reform Group and he was also President of the North Stradbroke Island Community Association. He is patron of Redlands Touch Association, Redlands United Soccer Club and Dunwich Sporting Club and North Stradbroke Island VMR. He is Vice President of Queensland Cancer Fund Redland Branch. He is Patron of Cleveland Senior Citizens Association.
He became motivated to run for Council out of a love for the area and a belief that he could make a contribution.
He is committed to seeing the Redland economy, social environment and urban environment grow and develop in a way that accords with residents' wishes. He is also committed to seeing that Council handles ratepayer's money and assets responsibly and provides a good return to the community.
